Jameson's Charhouse

Reviewed By djcc77

Our group of eight always enjoys a dinner get-together at Jameson's. We do try to schedule around their busier times as they do fill up and seating for so many could be challenging. Dinner includes hot bread, large bowl of very good soup (two choices), and a nice salad. Everyone in our group is satisfied with choices ranging from fish, pork chops, ribs, and, of course, steak. Price is fair and atmosphere inviting.

The restaurant is nicely decorated in a up-scale style, reminicent of the art deco 1920's era. The chairs were comfortable and the bar room seemed inviting. Everything was clean. They could use shades on the upper windows. People facing the windows had to deal with the sun in their eyes.I ordered a Derby Mule ($15) which tasted like a whiskey sour, but came in one of the frosted copper mugs I love. The others shared a bottle of wine which was too dry for their taste and then another blend which was better. My entree was a small Waldorf salad topped with 3-4 tasty grilled shrimp (about $20). Quite satisfactory. The crusty bread and butter were good too.My husband said his steak was very good, but I was amazed at the tiny piece of meat for about $29-$39. The poor thing sat all alone in the middle of an empty white plate. No sides, no garnish. All sides, soup, and salad are priced separately. My friend allowed me a taste of her brussle sprouts which were okay, but not nearly as tasty as those I'd had in Geneva a few days earlier. My husand's huge baked potato arrived looking like a small loaf of bread. It was accompanied by cute little dishes of sour cream, cheese, and maybe butter. I was most disappointed with the desserts ($10 each). Our carrot cake was huge, but also damp and heavy. My husband and I each had a sliver and brought the rest home, only to throw it out after tasting it again the next morning. The other couple shared a huge hunk of chocolate cake and gave me a sliver to taste. It was bland and not worth the calories either. Our server was very nice. There were, however, long stretches when we didn't see him, though the restaurant was mostly empty. Over all, the experience not worth the drive and hefty bill. Our friends love the place and treated us to dinner for our anniversary. I thank them for their kindness and wonderful company, but this place was not for me.

My wife and I visit Aodake once every month or two, and it's always a great experience. The food is delicious and it's always great fun watching the hibachi chef prepare it right in front of you, as well as the fun games provided along the way - squirting sake into your mouth, catching broccoli, the fiery onion, etc. Good times!

I wasn't expecting the food to be good, but it was really fine. However, I was disappointed that the shake wasn't so great. They do have a variety of shakes to offer so perhaps a different shake would make me happier. Will try them again.

LongHorn Steakhouse

Relatives suggested coming here and wife wanted steak for lunch. We haven't been here, but I'd call it an upscale steak restaurant. Two of our party ordered the prime rib sandwich combo which should have been half sandwich with soup or salad, but got the soup and then a full sandwich. When mistake was pointed out she was able to change the bill and they got what had been brought for a lower price. One "special order" wasn't prepared correctly and that was quickly corrected too. My French Onion Soup was very good - lots of cheese! Good Burger, wife like the steak.
