Beautiful place, warm, with extraordinary attention! From the time you arrive you are greeted with something to nibble at. The food is extraordinary. Varied menu, delicious dishes, very cute decor, live music and above all excellent the attention of each
Attracted by the beautiful patio with fountains, we decided to have lunch at Santa Elena today. Although expensive, we ordered the fish platter for two. It came with three types of fish. Two were ok, but the main fish was dry, not fresh, and hadn't been descaled. It also came with grilled vegetables, but this was only a small potato and another small sweet potato to share. Complaining to the waiter, he offered to bring more, but we'd already had enough and had lost our apetite. Avoid like the plague - there are so many great places to eat in Colonia, you really don't need to waste your time or money here.

Typical Uruguayan barbecue in a building of the colonial era. Come to know and enjoy a sensational lunch with a unique experience.
It was a welcome stop off on a rainy Colinia day to go in to lunch at Viejo Tunel. The meal was part of the tour package. The ambiance and friendly service are very good. The meals were reasonably good but lacked seasoning. I'm not sure it is the best of Colonia fare but worth trying in any event.

Just 2 blocks from our hotel, this small corner restaurant with the eclectic decor was run by Sr. Mário and that's it. Cook, grillmaster, server, host and cashier. Impressive. We ordered a chivita and a parilla. Sr. Mário went over to stoke the grill and cut the steak on the counter and then disappeared around the corner. The chivita came moments later, after the beer of course; mounds of ham, egg, bacon, mozzarella, tomato, lettuce, tenderloin on a ciabatta. Very good. Then we saw Sr. Mário return to the grill and come back with a well cooked, flavourful steak and that's it. Nothing else on the plate. Certainly an experience...

We had dinner at this restaurant. The service was okay, but the food wasn't great. I ordered chicken milanesa (which I had to send back as it wasn't cooked through) with ensalada rusa, which was watery and obviously made with canned vegetables, not fresh. The meat and chorizo was a bit better. On the plus side, the cocktails were good and the house wine was drinkable. Overall, very average.

I headed in here due to the veganas sign outside and received a warm welcome. It's small and simple inside but the food is good, the wifi works and the owner makes you feel very welcome. I ordered one vegan empanad then another because they were so nice. Both cooked to order. Yum.

My wife and I had lunch there after the walking tour on historic downtown. We've paid 415 pesos Uruguaian which included free parrilla, salads buffet, jar of soda (one per person, can be switched by beer or wine), french fries and dessert. I'd recommend It.

Marlo It is a faithful version of our customs, where the roast on the grill by our autochthonous woods become our favorite grilling menu people. The art we recognized is as essential as delicioso. We offer variety of meats and cuts carefully select chosen,
This place looks so nice from the outside. Open bbq blazing away in the corner, nice decor, decent looking menu. Don't be fooled. We looked at the menu and it had picanha, a favourite of mine, and tuna, a favourite of my wife. Once we sat down we were told that not only did they have neither, they also didn't have any sparkling wine (several on the menu) they had only one option for Malbec (despite there being LOADS of options on the menu). The recommended wine (i.e. the only Malbec the waiter said they had) was poor and very over-priced; the most expensive bottle I bought in a month in SA. The recommended steak was tough and overcooked, the fish had been cremated. After initially being all over us, the waiter hid in the corner once he'd served our food. I guess he knew how bad it was. I don't make a habit of writing 1 star reviews and it's nearly always possible to find something good to say about a restaurant. But this place is just awful.

We prepare our dishes with fresh and carefully selected raw materials that make our final product a healthy and delicious food.
We had not booked this restaurant, neither had we researched whether they were able to meet our vegan/vegetarian/wheat intolerant diet. However we were not disappointed. they were able to creatively provide the fusion of two dishes to create one dish for us.Gluten free bread was readily available and served in little brown paper pockets. The staff were attentive, and polite. The food was washed down with beautiful house wines, red for myself and white for my husband. We sat in the window, and watched the sunset until it was dark, in a wonderfully warm atmosphere, which was gently buzzing on a Sunday evening. The price was compatible with the quality of everything we received. This restaurant in Colonia del Sacremento is highly, highly recommended, for all dietary needs in our view.

After reading all the great reviews I came here on a rainy day and thought I found the wrong place. It looks a little like a cafeteria rather than a gourmet restaurant. Don't let looks deceive you...this place is fabulous! The waitress is exceptionally pleasant and even when the restaurant filled up she was not stressed and didn't change her attentiveness. The food is fabulous! I had the pork and plum ravioli. It was shredded pork inside...fabulous! Fresh, delicious and didn't make me feel overstuffed like some pasta does.Loved it!
