Chesterfield is a market town and borough in Derbyshire, England. It lies 24 miles (39 km) north of Derby and 11 miles (18 km) south of Sheffield at the confluence of the rivers Rother and Hipper. Including Whittington, Brimington and Staveley it had a population of about 103,800 in 2011, making it the second largest town in the ceremonial county after Derby. Archaeologists trace it back to a Roman fort built in the 1st century AD, but soon abandoned. Later an Anglo-Saxon village developed. The name derives from the Old English ceaster (a Roman fort) and feld (grazing land). It has a street market of some 250 stalls three days a week. The town sits on a coalfield, which was economically important until the 1980s. Little visual evidence of mining remains. The best-known landmark is the Church of St Mary and All Saints with its crooked spire, originally built in the 14th century.

Had a takeaway on Saturday evening - after reading the reviews decided on Large Cod and Chips. The chips were lovely but the fish had clearly been sat in the warmer cabinet for a while. The fish was barely warm when I got home and was dry, not enjoyable at all! If I lived nearer to the shop I would have definitely taken it back! Probably the worst fish I have had in a long time. Not sure I will use again! So disappointing - Make sure you ask for a freshly cooked fish!

The staffs attitude is disgraceful, I ordered a takeaway and when it hadnât arrived I phoned the restaurant and spoke to a very rude, patronising man who didnât seem to care wether we ordered or not. No apology at allWeâve eaten here and ordered many times but never again. Avoid, this isnât the way to run a businessThank you for taking the time to review us but a shame you couldnât have been a bit more polite on the phone with me and we was delivering your order to what time the app told us on just eat and after 6 years off trading in chesterfield I think we are running the business very well thank you kind regards Matthew

The first throng you notice when your at your table is how sticky the tables are ! Starters consisting of Prawn cocktail... fair , Camembert.. average and chicken wings which were ok. Steaks for main course and chicken burgers. Would I go again ? No, would probably give the Galleon Steak House a go next time .
