This place is totally over rated and overpriced! The meats are average at best and all full of fat and gristle. (hidden cost saving measure (weight of meat) to keep your meat "flavorful". If it's really a great piece of meat, you do not need that much fat and gristle on the meat). All 4 of our meats were this way, so it was not an isolated piece. You can get a lot better food at Capital Grille, Ruth Chris, Mortons, Flemings, Sullivans, any day of the week! For the prices they are charging here, the food should be amazing, not eh. Service was average at best, nothing special. Was warned this place was overpriced and "just OK". I should have listened. Will not be going back. Not sure who's writing all these reviews, but, Advice... spend your hard earned money elsewhere for a much better meal!!Hi Richard, thank you for sharing your experience with us on Yelp and Trip Advisor. G.O.L. Steakhouse

After reading some positive reviews my wife and I decided to try G.O.L. Steakhouse for dinner on a Thursday night. We had expectations of fine dining in an intimate setting, with the likelihood of a pricey but acceptable tab. Complimentary wines are offered, and we both ordered glasses of White Zinfandel. We were surprised at the generous portions. Perusing the menu we noted a wide variety of offerings and prices. The signature steaks include a whopping 36-oz Tomahawk Ribeye at a whopping price of $78, but there are alternative large premium steaks at $52-55, and an 8-oz Filet is priced at only $28. South African Lobster Tail, a giant 16-oz size, tops the seafood menu (at MP). There are a number of other entrees in the mid-$20 range, quite reasonable. The Specials for the evening were reasonably priced. Sides are à la carte, $9 each, large for sharing; we found the sides selection to be somewhat eclectic (e.g., Kalushka, Plaintains, Southern Grits). We decided to share an appetizer, the Pork Puffs (“smoked BBQ pork potatoes, & pickled vegetables wrapped inside a puff pastry”). While waiting for the appetizer, ‘bread’ arrived, large puffed pastry-like, airy bread ‘rolls’, with butter and jam. These were fine. The Pork Puffs turned out to be a miniature version of the bread puffs, with BBQ pieces inside; the pickled vegetables were not inside but in an accompanying sweet ‘sauce’ (much needed) that was oddly watery-thin (and served without a spoon). Given the nature of the bread, I would have opted for a different appetizer. For our entrees my wife selected the 8-oz Filet Special ($28) with an adder of an 8-oz Maine Lobster Tail with Brown Butter (MP … turned out to be a very reasonable $22). I chose the Boneless Ribeye Special (a very reasonable $22). For our sides we selected the Mashed Potatoes and the Mexican Street Corn. I ordered the Flight of All Four steak sauces, $9.My Ribeye arrived with a nicely charred outside and medium inside, as requested. It was flavorful and there was little need for salt or pepper. I did not care for the Flight of sauces (I tried the 3 sauces and the butter), which surprised me as I like the Flight rendition prepared at Emeril’s Chop House. My wife’s Filet arrived also charred on the outside, but unfortunately well done on the inside rather than the requested medium. This was a disaster. It wasn’t even close. For a Steakhouse to do this is unforgiveable. Our waitress offered to have a new Filet cooked but we didn’t want another long wait. Our waitress subsequently offered me a gift card worth $28, but I refused it saying we would not return (for this plus the reasons cited below). My wife ate maybe 1/3 of the Filet and quit; too over-done, too dry; we did not take the remainder home. Fortunately, my wife’s Lobster Tail turned out to be excellent, and a good value. The Mashed Potatoes were good. The Mexican Street Corn came out as 4 half-cobs, heavily slathered and flavorful, but sloppy to pick up and eat, and a bit heavy for my palate. We did not get dessert. Our bill, without the tip, was $109 (no adjustment for the Filet), which was less than I anticipated when originally considering the restaurant. There were many flaws besides the over-cooked steak. Upon entering the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised to hear live piano music … that is, for a moment. But it immediately became clear that the piano was very loud in the small 2-room venue. We got a table as far away as possible, which isn’t that far. The piano was so loud we had difficulty hearing one another and our waitress. So we found it intrusive rather than enjoyable. Our waitress offered us water, but surprisingly did not immediately advise us of their complimentary wines. This came later. Our waitress took our order without writing anything down, a nice touch when you can do it right. She returned a few minutes after our order and asked us to repeat our side selections. And she returned a 2nd time to confirm one of the sides. Not only did the watery appetizer ‘sauce” arrive without a spoon, so did the mashed potatoes. Really? My impression of our waitress, who was young, was that she was inexperienced and, more importantly, untrained in fine dining skills. She was trying hard. It took a long time for the appetizer to come out. While we waited my wife observed that the tablecloth was full of wrinkles, not like it came from a linen service. ? We also observed our waitress was the only waitress, handling all of the tables (5 occupied). The kitchen was slow. It took a long time for the entrees to arrive. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:30, and our entrees hadn’t arrived until sometime after 7:45. Meanwhile we endured the loud piano. I did not care for the venue either. It was small, but I would not say it was intimate or refined. Our experience was disappointing since my expectation was fine dining. I think of fine dining as a package of good food, good service, and a refined venue. In this regard, I think G.O.L falls short (all three) and is not in the same league as say Top Cut or Emeril’s Chop House. I do think G.O.L. offers good value on some menu items.

Corked Wine Bar and Steak House

Arrived for a 4:30pm Saturday dinner reservation and was immediately seated for at table for 9. Restaurant gradually became busier over the next hour or so. Tables out front are a nice option for warmer weather. Extensive menu from bar dishes (pizza, appetizers, burgers) to full entrees (pasta, steak, seafood). There are options for everyone. Good drink, wine, beer list as well. We were happy to find a happy hour special while we were there which gave you $2 off drinks and some food. Water was kept filled for everyone, no need to ask and other drinks were never left to go empty, you were always asked if you wanted more before you finished. Food all came out looking great and was delicious! Very enjoyable evening with friends at a reasonably priced restaurant with a cool vibe.

We haven't been to Emeril's in a couple years after having a couple mediocre meals. Wow, they are back to what they were years ago. We had a fantastic dinner for 2. The scallops, bone in rib eye, wedge salads and chocolate chip brownie sundaes were all delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and the scallops melted in your mouth. Our server was great and I apologize for not remembering his name.

We haven’t eaten at Youell’s in many years but it was well worth the wait. The service was very good. The food was delicious. The Clams Casino was fantastic. The raw oysters were tasty. I had the broiled Seafood Combo and it was fantastic. Great food for a fair price.Thank you so much!
