If this is Montanaâs best steak house, Montana is in real trouble. Here while traveling thru one night at the adjoining hotel. Arrived during happy hour, however, since we donât drink margaritas, beer or âwell drinksâ and wine isnât on happy hr, that didnât help. We were greeted and seated quickly and our very kind waiter, Sebastian was there shortly. Ordered a California petit Syrah at a reasonable price and it arrived promptly. I hankered a steak salad and chose the chop house Cesar while hubby had Fulton St. ribs. He was supposed to get soup or salad with his meal, which never came until I mentioned it when the entrees were delivered. The soup arrived, lukewarm, after many apologies. My steak salad, fortunately for me was an excellent cut of sirloin, very tender, and was edible even though it came medium-well to well done, rather than medium rare, which I specifically ordered. Disappointing, but I was not in the mood to wait for another. Sebastian spoke to the manager and my compâed my entree, which I appreciated. Hubbyâs ribs, for being slow cooked, were very fatty. He didnât feel so good after. They were tender & sauce was good on a positive note.I had joined their rewards program, thinking we might visit another location. Wait staff had no clue how points are awarded and the manager had to figure it out. One would think that to be part of staff orientation. Sebastian was very apologetic and very sweet; he made the experience worthwhile. Undecided if weâll visit another location ever, but maybe this was just bad luck.

Handcut steaks, seafood, chicken, ribs, burgers, and more!
We have eaten at the Derby for years, whenever we visit Butte. The food has always been great and the service has too. This visit was a huge disappointment. The food was good, but the quality has slipped some since we last visited. This time however, the service was horrible. The place was severely understaffed and as a result, we waited for everything from the initial water glasses, to menus, food, coffee refills, etc. What should have been a 90 minute experience was closer to 2-1/2 hours. Our server was so busy and trying to do so many different tasks, that she did none of them very well. Too bad, since the experience affects the way we feel about the place on future visits.

Welcome to Butte, America and one of Butte's most popular restaurants. Our mission here at Chef's Garden is a simple one: "Give great service and fresh wholesome homemade food at a reasonable price in a clean and charming atmosphere." We make all of our s
I have had dozens of Mexican/Spanish omelets in my lifetime, but never one that stacked up to theirs. Their "taco meat" wasn't just ground beef and chili powder. It had lots of seasonings mixed in with various green chilies and veggies which gave the omelet a bit of a kick. It was an excellent meal and my wife's bacon & eggs was also above average. The waitress was excellent (a friendly old time Butte gal) and the atmosphere was delightful. I would love to try an Italian dinner here.
