We were at the Palace at Linlithgow and this restaurant was our choice for lunch. Extremely nice place, whose buildings were built in the 1600s. I believe it was a farm originally, but the restaurant and related buildings are beautiful, and the grounds are lovely. We had a chicken breast with mushroom gravy with chips and steamed vegetables. The vegetables were delightful. A mixture of green beans, pea pods, asparagus, and root vegetables steamed to a crisp, but tender result. The chips were crisp and lightly salted. The chicken was superb.Desert was some sort of whipped chocolate pie. Very light and not too sweet.Service was crisp and professional. The dining area is a reconstructed barn with a unique style. Rock walls and timbered roof. Great setting and great food.

A miserable day but we stopped off at this lovely wee restaurant/pub for lunchWe needed a gluten free for one of our party and were pleasantly surprised by the options available Staff were so helpful and service really goodJust enough time to have finished eating before plates were removed Food was great and reasonably priced wine If you can take tables towards the back as they were nearest the radiator Not that the restaurant was cold but it was a dreary day snd this was a cosy corner for us to sit and relax

Visited mid-afternoon on a Saturday and only had to wait a couple of minutes for a table to be available for us. Staff were attentive. Decor was homely and cosy. Room got very warm but staff were happy to open the window to let some cooler air in. Food was very good. Black pudding bonbon starter was delicious. Adults all ordered steak - all very tasty, although two identical steaks ordered the same way came cooked slightly differently, but steak is like that sometimes! Chips were also very good. Dessert was pretty good, and portions are big, so only order if you definitely have space left!Wine was fine - it's probably worth ordering one of the bottles instead of glasses of the house wine as they were just okay.
