Bethesda is an unincorporated, census-designated place in southern Montgomery County, Maryland, United States, located just northwest of the U.S. capital of Washington, D.C. It takes its name from a local church, the Bethesda Meeting House (1820, rebuilt 1849), which in turn took its name from Jerusalem's Pool of Bethesda. In Aramaic, ܒܝܬ ܚܣܕܐ beth ḥesda means "House of Mercy" and in Hebrew, בית חסד "beit ḥesed" means "House of Kindness". The National Institutes of Health main campus and the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center are in Bethesda, as are a number of corporate and government headquarters.

We dined on Labor Day weekend, taking advantage of a holiday special the restaurant offered. It was outstanding. From a top class waiter with over 40 years experience, to the wonderfully prepared salads, the magnificent steaks, the fresh loaf of bread, the outstanding side dishes to the outrageous dessert, everything, and I mean everything was superb. The excellent bottle of wine, just topped off the delicious food that was served. It was worth every penny and then some!

You want an excellent dinner out with family, have a good conversation, relax and not be surprised. This ruth's is the safe choice. Millenials dont do chain restaurants so that leaves more steak for the rest of us. Fine staff, attentive without overbearing, excellent quality food, AND NO OVERHEAD MUSIC!! we're all adults here, we will chew our food at our own pace and dont need scientifically selected background music that is intended to get us to chew faster and exit the table sooner. Thank you, Ruth's Chris, for treating your guests as adults. It's not cheap but we know that going in and they deliver a meal that is worth the cost.

My wife found this little restaurant on Groupon and we visited. It's a Prix Fixe menu but the selections were fine. Our waitress Jeanette is a marvelous hostess. She moved effortlessly between tables and accomodated guests well. We enjoyed this laid back steakhouse and will definitely be going back.
