Reviews on Spanish food in Sintra, Central Portugal, Portugal. Long the home of Portugal’s monarchs, Sintra is a magnificent town of marvelous historic mansions, all set against the backdrop of lush hills. Sintra’s many castles include the Palácio Nacional de Sintra (a main abode of Portuguese royalty until the early 20th century), the hilltop and storybook Palácio da Pena, Quinta de Regaleira (incorporating several architectural styles and with gorgeous surrounding gardens), the Castelo dos Mouros (Moorish Castle), and the Palácio de Monserrate.

Arola's menus offer a creative and contemporary twist to Portuguese cuisine, mixing tradition and heritage with his inimitable modern approach. Like his mentor, Arola seeks to give diners unexpected contrasts of flavour and texture with the ultimate aim o
Seriously, at some point I was sure that they would come out with a candid camera moment and start laughing. The waitress recommended that we try the 5 tapas where the Supreme Chef picks what we are to have. (I also asked for a tapa that they didnt have and of course the wine my husband wanted they didnât have either.) But letâs carry on. The first course was tiny thin crispy bread which came with two raw garlic cloves still in their skins and some peices of tomatoe. Hmm..... okay letâs go for round two: had a ceviche that was okay and a salad that was okay. Nothing to right home about. But boy the staff wanted you to think it was the nectar of life. Now for the hot course... fried cheese balls no sauce and kimchi tiny chicken wings which made me want to gag. Now Iâm wishing I had more dried up bread! Now for the main course: gooey rice with shrimp still in their shells head and all. Told to pop the whole thing in our mouths. Husband did and said they were very crunchy and the antenna hurt his mouth. Please bring me more bread! Dessert was passé and we should have been paid to eat this meal. Overated to say the least!

After many local meals Portuguese style we welcomed a change to one of our favourites- Indian, despite the connection with Indian - Italian cuisines we were satisfied that the owners specialised in Indian, tandoori meals and we were delighted with our shared meals - prawns, chicken & lamb. Lovely & Relaxed Night outside on the terrace. Lovely & well priced wine selection as well. Thank you.
