Most Popular Spanish food in Quepos, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Reviews on Spanish food in Quepos, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Quepos, a small town in Puntarenas province, is located on Costa Rica’s central Pacific coast and is undoubtedly one of the best places in the world for big game sport fishing. However, Quepos also offers vacationers a wealth of other activities to do as well. The nearby plaza has many fine restaurants, art galleries and souvenir shops, most within a short walking distance of your beachfront vacation rental. Book an exhilarating canopy tour, go horseback riding, kayaking and rafting. Learn to surf or watch the surfers ride the waves; you’ll wonder at their athleticism.

Herr now for lunch. Kids got chicken fingers with fries (chicken was amazing, very juicy) . We also got seafood soup (molkbased, see pictures below) that soup was something unbelievable, so tasty, huge portion with tons of seafood. Also we got garlic shrimp, chicken cordon blue- everything was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended this restaurant.

We asked locals where they liked to eat and this place was mentioned over and over again, so we went in search of it. We ended up at the bus station, loved the ambiance, local people, no tourist, BINGO! We ordered Casado de pollo and Tortilla con Pollo, the Muchacha said if I was looking for "comida Tipica" that was it. So we got two big meals, rice and beans, yuca salad, chicken, big home made corn tortilla, potatoes in some sort of sauce and drinks. Our check was $12.00 Happy eating for us, we were satisfied all the way around. We do encourage you to mingle with the locals and shy away from Manuel Antonio restaurants, prices are very high and it does not Compare to what you get down in Quepos.

We had a good lunch here, not as cheap as some smaller sodas we have been, but the food was good, very local restaurant and not touristy at all. You can check the menu here posted at photos, they have good choices. You can also go here in the evening for a fun time and drinks. Plenty parking space.

I had the chance to eat here with friends during my stay in Manuel Antonio. They have very good typical breakfast and food anytime of the day. The restaurant is located in a quiet area of Manuel Antonio close to local houses.... it is very different from the big touristic restaurants. If you are looking for authenticity, good local food and a nice moment with friendly staff, go to Gallo Pinto ;-)

KUKULA

We ate dinner at Kukula a few days ago on the recommendation of the staff at our hotel and we were not disappointed. It's a small local restaurant on the road leading out of Quepos heading north toward Jaco...no more than a kilometer from the center of Quepos I'd guess. The staff at the restaurant was very nice and helpful (and patient!)as we tried, often terribly, to order in Spanish. She spoke about as much English as we did Spanish, so together, we made it through! We ordered pics de gallo to begin; it was fresh and the flavors were well-balanced. For dinner: the fish of the day (swordfish) that was excellently grilled. I also ordered chicken stuffed with bacon and cooked in a blackberry sauce that was delicious. Their menu extends beyond seafood, obviously, and I feel you can't go wrong if you aren't in the mood for seafood that day. Overall, we were very pleased with the meal and would definitely recommend Kukula as a local spot off the beaten path in Quepos/Manuel Antonio worth checking out.
