We have been in the Basque region for a week now and this restaurant stands out as being the best we have had so far for quality of food and for price. We had lunch, mixed salad, almost a salad nicoise, so good we decided to come back for dinner and we were not disappointed. Excellent choice from fixed price menu, the desserts especially good, friendly staff will probably be back tomorrow

Came from Dublin for a big birthday lunch and was really impressed with the menu provided for the event. Excellent variety, quality and presentation of food and dining room. Lovely patio area at the rear where the friendly staff served cava and canapes before the main meal.

Great, truly delicious food, very friendly staff, very nice atmosphere. When our kids got tired and we asked them to skip one course from the âtasting menu del diaâ (8 courses), they did so ánd speeded up with the remaining desert and coffee ánd gave us a discount. Muchas gracias for your great hospitality and service. Weâll be back!

We found this restaurant following comments on this media and must say it exceeded our expectations. Xixario is a small restaurant close the riverbank with a traditional decor and a clear emphasis on fish. The fish is grilled outside and served with a simple but most delicous seasoning including olive oil, lemon/vinegar and garlic. They serve no potatoes, just bread, but that is quite enough: the sauce is so good we wanted to clean every bit of it with the bead provided. We ordered monkwish and sea bream, two medium-sized ones for our family. Both were cooked perfecly, soft and juicy, just as one could wish. This is aruably the best fish meal we have ever had outside our own Baltic waters! If you are anywhere near Orio, I recommed you give Xixario a try. Service is friendly, good English spoken and the recommeded wine, local Txakoli was a perfect match for the fish.If everything was so perfect, why just 4 points? Because of yhe price. With a couple of salads and wines&drinks, our meal for 2 adults, 2 kids cost us almost 200e. For the quality we had that was not totally unreasonable, but more we were expecting (the price of fish listed per kilo is always a bit challenging to estinate) and more one may consider fair as Donostia with its amazing delicacies is just 20 minutes away. The same budget there would qive you access to Michelin stars and pintxo places with equally high standard. Hence my 4 points. But still: if chance had not thrown us in Xixario, I would consider myself missing one top-of-the-line fish dining experience!

In the middle of nowhere we found Asador San Martin, a restaurant which seems to be nothing out of the ordinary. After reading Trip Advisor reviews we had quite high expectations; so should you!Asador San Martin without a doubt makes the best food I have tasted the last 9 months in Spain. With helpful waiters and homemade dishes I have never been more clear about my five "circles". The prices are a bit high, but well worth it!

Asador con una ubicación excepcional, frente a la playa de Antilla y al lado del rió, nuestra cocina se centra principalmente en parrilla con productos frescos y de temporada.
We ate several times (lunch, dinner) in the restaurant, food was excellent, everything was fresh, fish, meat and very nice kooked. All the staff was very friendly and paying attention to all details. Also if you ask them they could give some hints for what to visit and nicest roads or places around. We will return with great pleasure in this palce.Hola, Muchas gracias por su crÃtica, nos alegra saber que su experiencia en nuestra casa estuvo a la altura.Un saludo de todo el equipo y hasta la próxima!

A group of 12 of us had an amazing lunch yesterday ! If you are visiting anywhere near here you must come for amazing food , fantastic location and superb service ! Not to mention the extremely resonance prices !!If we ever get back here we will be coming back !!
This was one of the best meals we had during 14 days in Spain. The server (proprietor) was friendly and helpful, and our lunch was fantastic. Hubby said it was the best grilled octopus he has ever had. He claims it was the best meal he had the whole time. I was boring with ham croquetas, but they were so much better than any I had had! Truly excellent wine. A local guide was next to us with a table of tourists, and she spoke of how Bar Argia was one of the best spots in San Sebastian. We agree! Only a few tables so felt lucky we nabbed one before the crowds. Would have come back for dinner had we been in the area and would definitely return here if we come back to Spain.

With so many places to eat we took a chance to visit this restaurant and we were not disappointed. We had studied the set menu including wine and water earlier in the day and turned up without making a booking. We soon realized that we were lucky to get a table as the restaurant filled up very quickly. The décor and ambience of the restaurant was spot on. The standard of food was excellent with plenty of choice and the service was friendly, efficient but unrushed even though the restaurant was full, with people being turned away. All in all, we enjoyed a lovely evening at this restaurant and it was clear to see that the waiting staff really enjoyed their jobs and worked hard to make the overall experience enjoyable and relaxing.
