Reviews on Spanish food in Laredo, Texas, United States. Located on the border between Mexico and the U.S., on U.S. I-35 and Mexican Federal Highway 85, Laredo is America's largest inland port and one of the oldest border crossing points. Once capital of the briefly held independent Republic of the Rio Grande, the city has survived a long history of conflict and friendship between the U.S. and Mexico. Its legacy is a rich community boasting unique shopping, lively entertainment and festivals, including the month-long Washington's Birthday Celebration.
Things to do in Laredo
Eclectic atmosphere and upscale cuisine complemented by great wine and spirits.
Excellent steakhouse!  We split a 14 oz center cut ribeye and got three appetizers - the Chistorra (Spanish sausage - made of beef for those of you who don't eat pork),  the Provoleta (pan fried Provolone cheese), and Camarones Maclean (shrimp with Argentinian beer batter).  The beer batter shrimp was outstanding!  It came with a sauce that was almost like bearnaise sauce except with fresh oregano instead of tarragon.  I ended up saving the sauce for the steak as well.  The steak was very good but could have used some extra sauce on the side which they don't have - HINT: my favorites are bearnaise sauce and red wine sauce with shallots or mushrooms or green peppercorns.  Steak sauce may not be authentic Argentinian, but does add a lot to the flavor of the steak.  One final compliment - the bread was outstanding!  Flaky crust, soft center, freshly made.  It came with  olive oil with fresh oregano and chicken pate as well as the usual butter.  I'm not into pate, but the chicken pate was not bad at all.  The oregano in the olive oil was obviously fresh as its flavor was soaked into the olive oil.  The restaurant decor was fairly elegant, with white table cloth (the extra napkin under the main plate and utensils is a nice touch), dark wood, and just the right amount of romantic mood lighting, bright enough to see the food, and not too dark.  Service was excellent, and there is a good wine list, starting with a number of Malbecs, my favorite. The menu has a many other things to try, and this is definitely one of the best restaurants in Laredo.  You wouldn't know it though, from the locals, as there weren't that many people there with us, compared to the Border Foundry next door (which is really  more a place for well-heeled Laredoans to be seen and to socialize in, rather than having really outstanding food).  So let's hope the people of Laredo get out and support this restaurant better.Dear GGreyhame, your feedback is immensely appreciated, it strengthens our commitment to contribute toward the improvement of the gastronomical quality and diversity a great city such as Laredo deserves.

The grilled meats and ribs here are fabulous. The ranchero beans also are delicious. Another feature of this restaurant is the fresh, home-made tortillas, both flour and corn. Great! Cold beer is a nice accompaniment.

First off I want to say... I am so glad we came in. Tacos al Pastor with cabra.... yes sir they were great. I'm still smiling two days later. My wife had a chicken dish wirh grilled veggies and really like that. My daughter had a kids enchilada dinner and ate everything. The chips are the thick style and very good. The sauce was warm bit I personally like the TexMex chunky style better. Our meal for three was 40 bucks with tip so a little pricy... bit good food so I'm happy. I would return for the tacos anytime.
While on business, I found about this restaraunt a little too late, before leaving Laredo. However, that may have been a good thing cuz I would have spent all my money there trying each plate! Wow, the food is authentic, fresh, and great tasting. Prices are reasonable and service is great. The condiments bar is well stocked with everything from Pico de Gallo, cilantro, hot peppers, radishes, sauces, onions, and more. I went with my co workers and there's something on that menu for everyone whether you're Vegetarian or a Meat/ cheese lover. Enjoy!

What a hidden gem.Small hole in the wall.Mayan food and Mexican options.Large menu options.Named after a Mayan food item "Keka". Like a populsa, and other stuffed corn tortillas, then fried.Various items to stuff, from pibil, huitlacoche (corn fungus), shrimp Diablo, zuchini blossoms, and various other items.Had the pibil, Diablo and chicharron. Covered with lettuce cheese and cream. They were great. My coworker had a fajita plate. This location's parking is horrible so beware. The inside is quaint with Mexican accents. Staff was friendly, and very friendly.Prices were on point.

Despite the fact the girl could not speak English and I had a few gluten free options to ask about, she got help and my issues were addressed. The corn soft taco was absolutely delicious chicken and so was the beef. For a small Mexican no nonsense restaurant this was great!
