Very small (about 20 tops), very modestly furnished, very friendly and knowledgeable waiter (1 service person) and a delicious tapas/small plate menu in a chef-owned restaurant. The sauces, the sausages/charcuterie and bread are all home made. The veggies are all local - and some are or close to artisan. Not a huge menu but broad and diverse enough to put together a very satisfying and totally enjoyable meal. And, following other reviews, choosing the tres leches from the list of 4 home made desserts. That dessert was crazy good.

Hubby said he enjoyed his caesar salad, but I thought him a fool. While his cuban bread was great, nothing compared to my lechon asado. The pork was amazingly tender, plantains caramelized to perfection and the rice and beans were just as good. Loved the family pictures and latino music as well.

WOWZERS! For all the Jacksonville Carnivores, Salento Colombian steakhouse is better than all the Brazilian steakhouses, longhorn, Texas Roadhouse, Tess steakhouse, etc...... This is the best place to get your Colombian fix, juice fix, meat fix, and even dessert fix. Salento is truly a Swiss Army knife of culinary goodness.First things first, the restaurant is very clean and beautifully styled in Colombian focused fixtures and decorations. Their menu is extensive with many cool selections and I had to have 10 minutes to review the whole menu and decide what I wanted. They have platters where you can try many of the staple combo and meats in one. Do not underestimate the portioning of Salento. I ordered the 16 ounce New York strip with an idea that it would not be too filling. Boy, I was wrong - I was fully satisfied with more left over for the next day. Salento is tucked away in mandarain, relatively far from most of Jacksonville. But, trust me, this is definitely worth the drive. The pricing is more Han reasonable for what you get and the menu boats many options that are unique to Colombian culture that you can experience. Love this place! THANK YOU!!!!- Ansel Ponce Diama
