Find out what Spanish restaurants to try in Girona. One of the most historic sites in Spain, Girona lies in northeast Catalonia, just 99 km (62 mi) from Barcelona. Founded by Romans, the city later was taken over by Moors and Franks before finally falling under the rule of Barcelona. Influenced by different cultures and religions, the city beckons visitors with beautiful architecture. The Old and New Town offer many opportunities to pleasurably get lost and observe local life and culture.

The food was like from a dream! Everything was served beautifully and tasted absolutely fabulous. Moreover, my boyfriend and I love the fact that the couple running the restaurant put a lot of effort to maintain a great relationship with their guests, and they are full of passion. We congratulate them on the beautiful work they are doing. While next time in Girona we will most definitely come back. The service and the food was exquisite. We highly recommend.

From the shared working years at Celler de Can Roca and stages at Le Baratin (Paris) we decided to open our own restaurant. A restaurant that offers a product and service of quality and, for the treatment and for the price, is near and affordable.
We had two days in Girona on our way home. We had Sunday lunch at this restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was delicious . Not cheap but well worth the money. We selected a la carte each course was beautifully presented

In the heart of Girona you will find the restaurant l'Alqueria that specializes in valencian rice dishes
We enjoyed an excellent traditional paella, but there were many rice dishes on the menu. The staff were attentive and exceptional attention to detail. Great wine list too.

Serves tapas without the bread as base. Gourmet food.
I cannot understand all of these good reviews and I cannot over-state just how absolutely awful the food was here.Firstly, the staff were very nice smiley lovely people and they gave my dining partner a little stool for her bag just like they do in posh French restaurants so it all seemed legit. But then the food....My credentials: We have visited many of the top restaurants in the world including several in the top 10 so we know our stuff. The presentation is bang on, the starters arrived and they looked so pretty! I eagerly scooped up the little fish curled around a cute white sphere with a delicate topping of foam and bunged it into my mouth. That was a mistake. The atrocious combination of flavour was shocking. I didnât have time to warn my partner against it, her face was now contorting as she tried to swallow this terrible morsel.I couldnât keep it in my mouth so I spat it out.Not a nice thing to have to do in polite society.Ok, so a little hitch. Maybe the rest of the dinner would be better. No such luck.I had to immediately spit out the oyster as the sea water jelly was stinging the back of my throat and there was also a large piece of shell in it.I complained to the waiter about the oyster. No problem he said! And promptly brought me another, oh dear.More highlights of the evening:One dish looked for the world just like a plain roasted parsnip with a bit of bisto gravy dribbled over the top.. but when you placed it in your mouth.. nope, it was just a plain roast parsnip with a bit of brown gravy. The brown gravy was a constant throughout the meal by the way, drizzled over a blob of slightly over cooked cabbage. Also oozed onto some over-cooked pork, ooh and donât forget the brown gravy by itself as a soup with some little mushrooms floating around. One dish was some slimy stringy lengths of chicken spread out over an uncooked and pasty taco. This also had to be spat out.It was a truly astounding experience. The food was average if not horrible.

It was from the beginning to the end that the quality was in my plate and service.Unique Tartar-Salmon,(armony between ingredients, presentation, intensity, elegance, etc), great Black Fideua with ali-oli on the top, (not heavy, just subtle and great tipicity with the dish), and lovely roasted pulpo with mash-potato... the pimenton and olive-oil were from top quality too!.I really needed a refreshing dessert, so mango-sorbet full of concentration and real mango aromas and flavours.Everything with a Cava Reserva. I think the Chef will be a Spanish star in this industry very soon. Amazing experience... keep an eye on this Restaurant!!!!.

Vacation August 20 to September 12 Sorry for the incoveniences
A must visit when visiting Girona. We had the 5 plate menu and every course was delicious! The staff were very welcoming and friendly and each plate was explained in detail. The actual setting is very unusual and attractive.

We had lunch at the 1 MICHELIN Star Massana a week ago, and we really enjoyed it very much. We were assigned a very nice round table for six by the window in a semi private area. Service was impecable and food delicious. We had the appetizers, all beautifully presented and mouth watering. Then foie gras and reserve ibérico ham to share, delicious! Main courses included steak tartare, lamb, duck magret, and canelones with white truffle... all of the highest quality! Artesanal beer and a delicious red wine were also very good.I would gladly be back at Massana for dinner to enjoy it more!

This has to be one of the the most satisfying restaurants I have been to. The food is out of this world. The team are fantastic. Limited choice but thatâs a great thing as you know there isnât a freezer in the back. Xavier the chef has to be the nicest and humblest guys you could meet. Need to book well in advance.

Where do you start with this one? Everything about this place is magical. It will play tricks with you sense of taste and smell. It will leave you scratching your head but most of all, you will leave there having experienced something that will change your view on food forever. A must for the enthusiast.
Juan is a wonderful host as well as barman and cook. We had dinner here and were impressed with the food but also by the really friendly welcome we were given. First courses of goats cheese salad and crochetas were substantial and delicious. Seconds of lamb and duck also really well received. Desserts white chocolate cheesecake and a melting chocolate pudding were wonderful. Throw in a few beers and a really nice bottle of white and for 60 Euros you can't go wrong
