It is very difficult for me to give a bad review of anything, but I just have to be honest for people interested in going here in the future... I can get past the suboptimal appearance because I have eaten some EXCELLENT food at some not so nice looking restaurants, Keep in mind that this is based on MY taste and MY experience: I was quickly seated upon arrival by very courteous servers. They didn't stay very attentive to my needs once I was seated though. Probably because I was a party of 1, and there were larger parties there at the same time. On to the meal, the chips they served prior to the meal were fine, the salsa they provided for dipping had a scorched flavor - but that is a matter of preference to salsa... So I ordered a cup of queso (cheese) for the chips and honestly I have never tasted queso like that! Honestly it was so bland that I asked for extra cilantro just to give it flavor, then still added the scorched salsa. I gave up , but my meal arrived. I ordered a plate that had a chalupa, enchilada, taco and chili relleno - in order to get a good taste of what they had. Well, it all looked so good, covered in a white sauce and cheese. Well, the white sauce - who knows what it is called, but it was like a thick chili, but bland. And of course there was the bland cheese sauce I have already discussed. The taco was ok, and you may say that it was "Authentic" Mexican food and not everyone likes authentic Mexican food, but I have had Authentic Mexican food and I love it! What I loved most about this plate was the actual shredded cheese that had cooked crispy onto the plate. Is this wrong? Am I being mean? I don't know - not intentionally. Just not my nature. But according to all of the other reviews, maybe I was just there when the good cook was off, but I'm not willing to go back and try it again.
$9.50 for a Taco plate! Came in for lunch and ordered the $3.50 burrito. The tortilla was the size of a large taco tortilla not the usual burrito size. There was NOTHING on it but meat. I asked for some onion and cilantro for it. They brought me about the amount of one table spoon. They asked me since I was dining in if I wanted chips and salsa. I said yes because free chips and salsa is always good when you are waiting for your food. They took our drink order of a coke and water for my wife. Then brought me a bottle coke and bottle water for her. We didnât order bottle water and I thought the coke would have been fountain considering this looked like a regular restaurant on the inside. The outside looked like an abandon gas station. Fact is I thought the place was closed down as there was only one car parked there and nothing to make you think it is an open restaurant like a brightly lit OPEN sign. The barbacoa meat on my burrito was tough and very bland. I used a good bit of salt and the dip to give it some flavored. So all in all the burrito was small and lacking much flavor, the salsa was good, but the chips were thick and hard. The part that made me decide not to ever return to this restaurant was the price. Remember all I ordered was a $3.50 burrito, a coke, and ended up with a bottle of water. The bill was $12.00!!! I had them explain that to me at the register. They said it was $3.50 for the bland small burrito, $.50 for the onion and cilantro, $4.50 for the coke and water, and then they charged us $3.50 for the normally free chips and salsa! The reason my wife didnât eat was she thought the prices were too high. I thought the lunch special of $3.50 would be a good deal. But our server never said âHey, we are going to charge you as much for the chips and salsa as we are for your small bland burrito!âI used to like to go there for the weekend Tamale special. But after what happened today, I will not spend one more penny in that place. Considering it was lunch time when we ate there and there wasnât even one other person in there eating that right there should have told me to turn around and walk back out. Oh well, lesson learned and hopefully none of you reading this will have to suffer my fate. Personally I donât think they will stay in business much longer doing this and no one eating in there.
