Reviews on Southwestern food in Wichita, Kansas, United States. Dorothy clicked her heels to return to Kansas, and you'll want to do the same after you've visited this one-time cattle town turned modern, booming city, where the spirit of the Old West lives on. To get a feel of the early pioneer days, visit the recreated village at the Old Cowtown Museum. For a slightly more eccentric experience, visit the Museum of Ancient Treasures, which has everything from a baseball signed by Joe DiMaggio to a shrunken head. The Indian Center Museum features works by Plains Indian artists. Wichita is an aircraft manufacturing center, and the Kansas Aviation Museum honors pioneers in the field, as well as housing model planes. Exploration Place gives kids more insights into aviation and other scientific wonders. Abuelo's invites you to experience the incredible flavors of Mexico, combining homemade cooking with rich flavors of coastal and interior Mexican cuisine.
Took my family to dinner to celebrate my daughter's birthday and we had a wonderful meal. I had the sea bass which was fantastic. We had several appetizers which were all good, although the ahi tuna could use some type of sweet drizzle or sauce served with it to give a better balance of flavor. The mojito was to die for! Great food and atmosphere.

While this is mostly a Mexican restaurant, we were a bit surprised to find very good green chile - just the thing for folks from Santa Fe passing through Wichita. The food and drinks were all quite good and the service was decent even though there were multiple large parties near our table. And, it was close to several hotels including ours as well.

Stopped at Jose Peppers the other night with friends and some of their visiting family.I had never personally been to this restaurant. Go here because it is great. Nice happy hour too which provides cheaper prices on drinks and appetizers. We chose the margaritas which were half frozen and half rocks type margaritas mixed. Generous size and delicious. Also a bowl or the super spicy and delicious spinach and peppers queso white cheese dip. It came with excellent thin chips and the salsa was great as well.Dinner, which we shared was a chicken and avacado enchilada plate. Smothered in a green creamy sauce and accompanied by guacamole, sour cream, and some pico. It was excellent and different too. Sides were a lemon pepper cilantro rice and refried beans. Great service added to a nice evening and some new food choices. Hope to go back soon, especially for that generous happy hour.
