Discover Restaurants offering the best Southern-Italian food in Messina, Province of Messina, Italy. At Sicily’s northeast tip, Messina is the first city being kicked by mainland Italy’s boot, just three miles across the Strait of Messina. It's a main port of entry for visitors via hydrofoils and ferries. Trains board the ferry, too, before continuing service. The 12th-century Norman cathedral, rebuilt after a 1908 earthquake destroyed it and much of the town, is the most famous attraction.

Came for lunch from a tip at a Rome restaurant. We walked several miles from cruise ship to get here. They have a nicely priced lunch special menu. All of our party enjoyed their selection. Stuffed Fresh Calamari was to die for. If ever in Messina again we will be back.

For those who don't know, granita is a kind of Italian ice. It can be made in many ways, but the best comes out very smooth and tasty. My favorite is lemon. But here you want to come to have the authentic Sicilian breakfast: coffee granita served with a brioche! In warm weather it is wonderful. People come from miles away to this place because it's the best. The prices are quite low for everything on their menu (including alcohol of all kinds), and the granita, gelato, and sweets are fantastic. Parking is crazy, so unless you're with Sicilians, just park a block or two away and walk.

The place is endowed with an inside room with 100 places to sit and an external room with as many one hundred places to sit. Refined and elegant environment, the restaurant leans out on the Narrow one of Messina, giving to the guests, a panorama mozzafiat

Visited marina restaurant after arrival by yacht from Eolian islands. Had not expected such a good restaurant right by the boat. Clearly talented and imaginative chef. All fresh ingredients sourced locally; swordfish, cod, squid, shrimp. Good selection of local and Sicilian wines. Prices slightly elevated, but in line w quality level. Highly recommended!

Had originally visited this place in the 70's with my parents. Just on tip of Sicily, at the mouth of the Straits of messina, 2 artificial lakes breed mussels and all around the lake a continuous line of restaurants. You order your spaghetti with mussels and the waiter crosses the street, into a boat, brings a bunch of mussels out of the lake and 20 minutes later they are on your table.Marvellous food, good wine, and beautiful scenery. You dont feel at all being in Sicily, it could be Miami. The prices are very reasonable. A meal for 2 the cost of 5 pints in Central London.

We paid 16 euro for a small serving of seafood, raw tuna was excellent. Daughter had a toastie which was nice. The best were probably raw tuna sandwiches as we saw some people coming and ordering them without looking at the menu. The place was tiny.

Open every days. Day off Sunday
Awesome dishes served by friendly and competent staff. Had an excellent Charlotte de Aubergine and tuna, all utterly delicious! Tasted and looked way more expensive than it was (60⬠for 2 main dishes, one starter and 3 drinks), would recommend to everyone who is looking for modern but authentic cuisine.

Saw this on Tripadvisor and based on one specific review that mentioned the family, decided to find this little gem for an authentic meal. And certainly was not disappointed! Sat outside on a balmy evening and experienced the best service we've had in a long time! Delightful mother, charming father, with the two most adorable daughters and their best friend, looking after us as if we were part of the family. Scrumptious pizzas, delicious salads, topped off with the father's own homemade Limoncella, best we've ever tasted. A splendid late summer's evening in marvelous Messina. Most certainly recommended.
