The Katonga restaurant is a floating restaurant that is part of the Mawamba Lodge in Tortuguero. We werenât staying at the Mawamba Lodge, but we were still able to make a reservation online and had the place to ourselves for a wonderful dinner for two. After reserving we were contacted by the hotel by phone the next day to confirm our pickup time/location in town and were taken by boat to Mawamba Lodge where we boarded the restaurant. It had about 5 tables for two but we had the boat to ourselves for the evening. There was a set menu for the evening with the choice of chicken, beef, or fish for the main course (there was no vegetarian option listed on the menu, but we also didnât ask if they would be able to accommodate a vegetarian meal). We had the fish and beef (both were delicious!), as well as several drinks. One drink is included with the set menu, but additional drinks can get a little pricy depending what you order ($13 for a gin and tonic). Thankfully the lodge can accommodate payment by card since the ATM in town wasnât working when we arrived.During our dinner the staff were fantastic and very attentive, and had a ton of info for us about Tortuguero itself. During dinner the boat took us down to the mouth of the river where it meets the ocean (approximately 2hrs for the whole dinner/trip). Unfortunately since it gets dark by 6:00pm in Tortuguero we couldnât totally appreciate the view, but could see a beautiful sky of stars and a crazy thunderstorm happening off the coast. After dinner we debarked and a boat took us back to the dock in town. Overall we would highly recommend Katonga as a great addition to any trip to Tortuguero, and for us it was an amazing way to end our trip to Costa Rica!

Really unsympathetic, overpriced place (e.g. water cost 1500 colons, normmaly 1000 colons). WC costs 1 USD or 500 colons. Parking per day 10 USD.

We had 2 chicken casados and to water mango shakes for 9600 colonos. Food was very good and service pretty decent.

At la Casona we had the most uninspired, blandest meal of all of central America. We didn't even ask for something complicated!We asked for casado with chicken in supposedly coconut sauce, what we got were two mummified pieces of unflavoured chicken leg with dry rice and microwaved beans.And for the "cheap" price of $10 a head!Utterly unimpressed...If you want to see how it should be done, go next door to Miss Miriam's. You won't regret it!

We had prawns cooked in garlic, therefore, just a bit more than just fried, and a mixed salad each. Price was over 25.000 colones ( more than 41.000$). We ate the same thing in other places and it was far more affordable.

We stayed at Cabinas Miss Miriam and had breakfast here. Both pancakes and the yoghurt with granola and fruit were very good! Cocktails are yummy and the view is amazing! Itâs very quiet and peaceful sitting here, hammock makes it perfect. Service is very friendly. Would definitely recommend this place!

One of the few restaurants in Tortuguero with excellent choices of food and quality! The restaurant is right by the beach which makes it a great place to hang out in the afternoons or evenings. I personally love their thin crust pizza and the variety of them. The staff is amazing and very attentive. I would definitely recommend.Thank you, this kind of comments help us to keep the great quality we want to offer to our customers, hope to see you soon!

I loved this restaurant. It's right in the center of everything first of all. Also, the owner and staff are very very friendly. They are always willing to chat and get to know you. Not to mention that the food is delicious and prepared fresh.
