Things to do in Leon
This is basically a college bar that serves food. We were ravenous and just arrived, so we ate here. It was filled mostly with townies, including a family celebrating something with fancy drinks and pairs of guys drinking and talking. The drinks (mojito, margarita) were fine. The pizza was interesting: a tough, frozen-style pizza crust with ketchup-like sauce and ketchup and local fresh cheese on the side. Not to our taste but not awful.
We are in the heart of the old colonial city of Leon next to Bigfoot hostel. We offer breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. Our food is safe and clean, prepared with much love for you.Our pizzas, rated as the best in Leon, have a tiny delicious crusty.
The Brazilian owner was one of the nicest people we met during our 6 weeks in León. He cares deeply about providing amazing service accompanied by phenomenal food. We ate here for lunch (vegetarian burger was delicious) as well as dinner (awesome pizza!). He has one of the more talented chefs in León cooking up traditional Italian style pizzas. We were lucky enough to chat with him and learn all about Brazil and his journey to León running this fantastic restaurant connected to his brother-in-laws popular hostel (Big Foot). Thank you for everything!

I couldn't find any information about a public pool anywhere but was told about this place by the reception at my hostel. 50 Córdoba each for entry (could have been tourist price but still only like 2.50us?) Nice pool. Sun beds. Open to public. Also restaurant and drinks and yoga etc.

The title is true. I've traveled all over South America and this place contained a wonderful surprise. The best ceviche I've had in all south america. There were a couple places that had some great ceviche but there's was superb. The service was friendly, the costs were incredibly reasonable and the ambiance is beautiful. Try and get a table in the promenade outside. Final thoughts: I stumbled upon this place by accident really and I'm so glad I did. If I'm ever back in that area I would absolutely get back here for that ceviche again.

opposite Big Foot hostel in Leon
We stayed at Bigfoot across the street, and wandered in every evening for drinks at the bar. It was a more civilized vibe over the beer pong party. Although fun, we needed a change of pace. The South American menu and the green foliage of the outdoor patio enticed us. I write this review after devouring hot Belgian Fries with mayo and a refreshing Nicaraguan beer. It was a good mixed crowd (locals, tourists, young and old) regardless of the lunch or late evening dinner crowd. The wonderful restaurant atmosphere enticed my friend and I to book a night at their hotel.

At Coco Calala we offer healthy plant based food in a tropical garden with pool. Everything is made from scratch and when possible with organic, local ingredients. Come join us for breakfast & lunch and don't forget to bring your swimsuit!
Coco Cálala is a great option for breakfast and lunch in Leon. My family frequents this place often, taking advantage of the delicious food and lovely pool. The menu is different from anything else in the city. They have a great selection of vegetarian and vegan choices and they can accommodate gluten free orders as well. I have tried most of the offerings on the menu and each item is delicious. My current favorite is the Yucca Brava and kombucha.
