Reviews on South American food in Hanga Roa, Easter Island, Chile. The epic Moai stone statues that stand guard over Easter Island are among the main attractions of this remote and lonely part of the world. Hanga Roa is Easter Island’s commercial hub and its only village. The airport is here, as are several restaurants, guest houses and hotels. Use it as a base for island adventures, which may include trekking, exploring white sand beaches, snorkeling, diving, visiting archaeological sites or even your own private spiritual journey.

For a quick lunch, two of us shared a heaping plate of french fries topped with sautéed beef, mushrooms, chorizo and fried eggs, a very common dish for locals in Chile. With 2 soft drinks, bill came out to ~$18, pretty cheap in Easter Island. It was quite tasty and hit the spot.

No one was eating here but it was most convenient to our hotel. They had nice outdoor seating and we could people watch while we ate fresh empanadas. Our server was not overly friendly, but he was responsive and everything was as expected for a reasonable price. While we ate, two local families entered and headed further inside to sit. Their presence immediately changed the vibe and made the place seem more awake, vibrant, and comfortable. If youâre in the mood for basic heartiness and donât want to spend much, check out Chez Ramon!

We came to the airport 2 hours early, it was crowded and the cafe at the airport ran out of avocado and couple of the items on the menu. So we decided to walk to this restaurant which is right in front of the airport, the chicken burger and the french fried were just perfect for lunch. We sat on the porch and was able to figure out when we needed to walk back to the airport to board our plan. Very nice indeed.

The portions are huge and the prices are quite small, compared with the island's standards. Moreover, it's delicious. We ate there quite a few times, trying the completo with green sauce, the ceviche and the tuna empanadas. All amazing! The waitreses are also really nice and helpful. Overall, a great place to eat!

A good menu offering mainly local dishes at a reasonable price. Them set menu at 7900pesos is good value and offers a range of choices. You can also choose from the menu. Service is friendly and good. You may have to wait a while for your food because everything is cooked fresh to order. Good choice of drinks including wine by the glass. Not expensive: $40/£32 for a meal for 2 with wine/beerThis is a good option if you don't want somewhere flash with entertainment but want more than an empanada.

We ate here 3 times (twice for lunch, once for dinner) and the food was great on 2 occasions. However, we also had issues with getting change back, we paid in cash, local currency and noticed that most people were paying by card, so that would prevent any mistakes happening. The first time the waitress didn't return any change, but it was a small amount (on top of the 10%) 2,000 pesos so we left it. The second time change was given for 30,000 Pesos instead of 40,000, so we had to dispute this and felt we were being taken advantage of. The waitress sorted it out, but it left a sour taste in our mouth. The quesadillas were fantastic (pollo and queso) except burnt on our last visit, as we had waited over 30 minutes for them we scraped the tops off as we were really hungry. It's a nice laid back place and if you pay in cash, make sure you check your change before leaving!

I had lunch here before leaving the island. I had come upon quite a few closed restaurants around noon in Hanga Roa, and this one was open, and about to serve lunch. So I take a seat. And wait. No one brings me a menu, no one comes to ask about my order. I start to get nervous, before I have a plane to catch. Then I see trays coming out of the kitchen. The same served to everyone, including myself. I wish this would have been told/explained to me.That being said - the food was delicious. I had several small portions on my tray: grilled chicken in a sweet sauce, rice, some veggies, an algae salad, a small portion of ceviche, a small miso soup, and a tiny meringue/tropical fruit dessert. I ate everything except the salad (not a fan of algae), and all was very good.I also had a drink with my lunch - I tried the fresh sour, made/flavored with a local herb. Very fresh and lime-y!Nice ambiance - low music, good looking terrasse, centrally located. Good service - other than for the lack of information about the lunch process.

This restaurant is located next to the airport and it has amazing views of the Ocean. Not only the views are great, but also the food is super tasty. We recommend the ceviche Raoa nui, carpaccio and Encrustado. The service is very good too. . The fact of the restaurant not being centrally located in Hanga roa should not be a problem to taste their delicious dishes :)))))

This is actually a pizza place, but they make huge empanadas using the pizza dough. We had a chicken and tuna empanadas. Both had lots of filling. The restaurant was a counter under a roof with a covered seating area. It isn't fancy, but the food was good and filling. There are no street signs, so just follow the directions to the church. It is across the street from the church.
