Unfortunately, we arrived to the nice village of Frutillar in october, which, apparently, is not the season. Most of the places were closed before 9pm, and one of the only opened ones was this. Don Rene.Well, it's hard to say that it looked promising, but it was actually worse. We've ordered simple things: Shrimps (which was not too bad), and artichoke salad. The salad turned out to be artichoke from a can, in it a mixture of ham and mayonnaise (greasy) and aside, completely tasteless olives (that was a first... an olive with no taste at all...).We returned the dish after tasting it. Of course, they wanted to charge us for that.We insisted, but they actually refused to waive this dish. Only after 3 efforts from our side, it was removed from the bill. What a shame.Worst place in south america ?? Maybe.

I had to list this restaurant on TripAdvisor when I realized it wasn't already posted. My husband and I stumbled across it on our drive around Lake Llanquihue. We came into Frutillar Bajo on a quiet, winter Saturday afternoon after following the scenic route around the lake. La Terraza del Volcan is one block in from the main lakefront road. It's almost directly back from the nice wooden pier in Frutillar that everyone visits. If you can find the pier, look down the block and you should see La Terraza located next to an enormous cuckoo clock like structure. There weren't a lot of places open for lunch and we saw La Terraza had a menú del dÃa of soup, chicken or pork, dessert, and hot tea for 4,000 CP or about $8. We thought we would give it a whirl. It was a bit chilly inside because they had just opened and the fire hadn't heated up the room yet. We asked for our tea right away to help warm us up. Then the rolls came which were warm and had a delicious ranch type dipping sauce with them. That was followed by an excellent homemade chicken soup. Oh, it was just what I needed on a cold day!For the next course I picked the chicken with fries and my husband had the pork with rice. Both were great, well cooked, flavorful, and obviously made by someone with true skill in the kitchen. Finally, it was time for some raspberry kuchen drizzled with chocolate sauce. I was a bit thirsty by then and asked for some water. The waitress brought me a giant glass of water at no extra cost.By the end of my kuchen I was STUFFED. And all that for $8! What a bargain! I hope this place is around for a long time because it's a beautiful drive from the Puerto Varas area and I can see myself enjoying lunch there many more times in the future. Thanks for a great experience!

The café wasn't my cup of tea at all, but my Chilean friends were very happy, hence the 3 rating. Friends ate torta mixta, I had kuchen. I expected to love kuchen but find this food famous in southern Chile is not at all to my taste, alternately too sloppy-moist or too sweet.

The service was lousy , the waitress couldn't answer any of our questions regarding the food and had to run back and for to the kitchen to get an answer .The wine selection was very poor . We tried out four different typical seafood dishes of the region and they were all bad .We couldn't get the access code for the wifi because the manager is the only one authorized to give it to the customers and he was not around .The prices are way to high .Estimados señores:Lamento mucho el impase que tuvieron en nuestro Restaurant.

Coffee house with pastries, sandwiches, salads and icecream. All our menu items are made with local produce and local ingredients. We provide take away on all our menu items. Located in the Patio Winkler in Frutillar Alto.
Uncomparable!!!! I find it to be exquisite. The lamb sandwich is amazing, best voffe in frutillar and best brownies and croissants in the region. Its a great placevto meet friends. Josselyn and her staff are friendly and very professional. And..if you want to order a cake, its the only place to go in my experience. This coffee shop and restaurant would do great in New York, Paris, anywhere.

After visiting the German Colonial museum in the region, we had a short stay at the cafe as recommended by the tour guide. The pastries were good, especially accompanied by a cup of espresso. He staff were friendly and helpful too.

At Frau Holle Steakhouse we pride ourselves on serving the finest quality steak from southern Chile.
A local friend recommended me this restaurant as a good place to eat a good steak. So that was i did. I ordered a "lomo vetado" steak. 300 gr of pure flavor. Excellente meat grilled to stay just red and juicy. French fries were also superb. Kind a expensive... But once in a while it worth it
