Find out what South American restaurants to try in Esquel. Esquel is a town in the northwest of Chubut Province in Argentine Patagonia. It is located in Futaleufú Department, of which it is the government seat. The town's name derives from one of two Tehuelche words. One meaning "marsh" and the other meaning "land of burrs", which refers to the many thorny plants including the pimpinella and other herbaceous plants whose fruits, when ripe turn into prickly burrs that stick to the animals' skins and wool or people's clothes as a way of propagation.

Unique in the world this gem of trains was listed by a BBC journalist as a Rembrandt, indicating as a unique and wonderful winter travel Safety Pin with little stove inside a fireplace. In his tour visits an Indian reservation patagonica
Gran variedad de platos regionales y no tanto. El precio está bien teniendo en cuenta el tamaño de las porciones y que son muy buenos en general, pero no es un lugar para visitar tan seguido dado que hay otras opciones un poco más accesibles aunque no tan buenas.

Good "picadas" (the Argentine term for a table of different cheeses, salami, olives, etc), nice ambiance and good craft-brewed beer of different types. Owner-run.

A different place to enjoy the best coffee and exquisite pastries place .
First visit plate for dessert and soda water after cafe, second visit different server saucer for dessert and tap water. Disappointed as I returned with my wife to try the coffee and alfajores and found the service lessened. But, they do offer gluten free items so plus points for that.

Make sure you stay away from this place, looks nice, but when we entered (only 4 customers in the restaurant), the waitress was looking at us like "this is not my lucky day, more customers", in addition the food was very poor.

They only do milanesa sandwiches and ham and cheese, but the milanesa sandwiches are absolutely the best we've ever tasted. No doubt about it.

Forget non-existing decor, uncomfortable chairs and endless waits for the food to be ready. Once in your table, you will try some of the best Argentinean beef available, grilled to perfection. Skip the lamb (they grill it for a very short time, so it is not as tender), and go straight to the bife de chorizo, or the ojo de bife (NY Strip/Ribeye steaks) and learn why so many Argentineans look down at vegans.

Maria Castaña is the traditional cafe (and meeting place) in Esquel. God coffee, drinks, and light food. Most important, it is open when many other eating paces are closed, so it really solves your problem when you want to dine early (that's before 8 PM by Argentina's standards).

Esquel is not exactly famous for its culinary excellence; its reputation is based upon its proximity to some of the best Patagonia has to offer. But Legua 50 has taken a leap forward when compared with the rest in Esquel. Its quality is the result of its pedigree - one of its owners has built her reputation on providing excellent catering services for many years and she is married to the town's premier wine importer. The result - high standards of location, venue, service and food, coupled with an excellent and reasonably priced wine list. It also opens at a reasonable hour, including Sundays, and has regular special events. Their breaded shrimps are to die for! The restaurant's name refers to the 50 square leagues (1 square league is 2,500 hectares) donated by President Roca after Fontana's Riflemen discovered the valley in which Esquel sits, Cwm Hyfryd, in their exploratory expedition, which ran from October 1884 to February 1885.Thank you very much for your nice opinion. Excellent description of the 50 leagues!
