Reviews on South American food in Colonia del Sacramento, Colonia Department, Uruguay. The historic quarter of Colonia del Sacramento, founded in 1680, evokes old Lisbon with its Portuguese-influenced architecture and winding streets. The area, located in southwestern Uruguay on the Rio de la Plata, was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995. It's an easy day trip by ferry from Buenos Aires, making the beaches a popular Argentinean escape. This is a wonderful local restaurant just outside of the Old Town with home cooked local meals. The service is excellent and the food is prepared very quickly. There is an extensive menu with many local specialities. The atmosphere is traditiional with several different rooms and an outdoor patio. The portions are generous and moderately priced. Highly recommended for lunch or dinner.

While walking through the beautiful town of Colonia, we walked past this quaint outdoor area and saw a sign for sangria. It was a hot day and that sounded perfect. Our waitress, Alejandra, was great...helpful and friendly. The sangria (she suggested the white) was AMAZING. We also had their delicious nachos and guacamole. Great place!Very kind your words! We wait for you again !!

Un local que ofrece almuerzos, picadas y cafeteria...ademas de 50 tipos de cerveza artesanal...produccion propia y comida casera
If you like craft beers, this place is unmissable. Although these days you can find non-industrial beers nearly in every corner, these people take it as a challenge to offer a great variety of little-known beers from Uruguay and other places. The restaurant is small (3 or 4 tables inside, another 2 or 3 outside) but the food is also very good and homemade and the owners are happy to offer explanations and advice for your choice. A great experience.we are allways happy to explain about beer¡ 33 different kinds of beer...thanks for your comment¡

We enjoyed sitting outside as we ate our lunch. The four of us had different platters of meat. The meat was a bit tough, with lots of fat, but there was plenty of it! Lots of dogs wandering around, but they were not begging at our table!

Our menu comes from honoring the producer, the picker, the laboring countryman; communicating the native product and its preparations, of burrowing into the ground to find the roots of the cultures that inhabited the lands, transforming these experiences
This was the first time in my life the pre-meal included climbing into a tree house to scan the river and countryside for exotic birds and a short stroll through the neighboring woods with the hosts' vivacious dogs. The simpatico hosts offered and we were thrilled to accept. But the spectacular multi course meal in the comfortable, rustic dining room quickly eclipsed the outdoor adventure. The house aperitif was followed by a prix fixe multi course lunch that was tasty, but as adventurous as the treehouse jaunt. It was off season so my family of 3 were the only guests yet it was not awkward. The hosts chatted with us. Their English was perfect. So was the music in the dining room. A fine mix of acoustic, rock and jazz. Wow! This was the dining experience of a lifetime.

We were attracted to this restaurant after seeing it in our Lonely Planet guide and it looked nice from the outside. However it was getting cold and we chose to sit inside - this was a mistake! It felt unclean when we first sat down and we also saw two large cockroaches running across the floor when we were waiting to be served. The staff seemed to find this funny!!The food was quite bland (it wasn't horrible and we don't tend to be fussy about what we eat!). I think the menu is just too big and therefore none of the dishes are really 'stand out'. To top it off, it was pretty expensive, especially for the quality. My husband and I both felt quite uncomfortable after seeing the cockroaches and couldn't wait to get out. Neither of us could eat our meal. Cleanliness really needs to be improved.

We were spending a day in Colonia. This restaurant came with local recommendations. We were delighted with our lunch here. Set in the centre of the "old town" this restaurant is very pleasantly presented with a good range of food on the menu. All dishes are freshly prepared. The staff service very good. The restaurant is very appealing with spacious settings on linen clad tables oozing old world charm. All very enjoyable.

Located in the countryside of Colonia del Sacramento, Las Liebres Restaurant Hotel combines gastronomy, architecture and nature. Offering its visitors a different experience and exceptional hospitality.
Just a 5 minute cab ride from the ferry terminal or city center, this restaurant will offer you something different than whatâs in the city. The food is the best. Organic, fresh produce from the grounds when combined with the regional seafood and meats (oh, and the bread!) make for a special meal. The setting is gorgeous. And the manager Guillermo assisted us with making the most of our short stay in town. The service was attentive and friendly. The inside of the restaurant is quaint and charming while the outside offers a beautiful setting.
