Reviews on South American food in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia. Byron Bay's beaches are dotted with lighthouses and surrounded by bottlenose dolphins, rays, whales and sea turtles. This former New South Wales whaling station turned tourist town is still strongly influenced by its recent bohemian past, when hippie lifestyles flourished. Bongos and didgeridoos sound in parks, sarongs and dreadlocks are common, and vegetarian restaurants abound. Give in to the casual vibe and stroll between beaches and bars for a low-key and happy day.

Three and a half starsBut would I leave Byron Bay for it? This is a cantina with a small lunch menu. There is a bigger menu for dinner and I actually think it would have more atmosphere for dinner. We started with margaritas. Everyone had the classic but I tried the spicy pineapple margarita and it was the bomb. They have a great wine list and I am always happy when the wine list includes a Vermentino. Despite the great food, cocktails & funky decor I don’t think it has much atmosphere. I think the addition of music would help. However, I think it would work right on the beach as it’s super casual. The restaurant is in the back car park behind shops and our view was of piled up empty bread trays and delivery trucks. A few hanging plants would disguise the ordinary outlook. We all agreed the steak, fish tacos and pork tacos were the best we’ve ever eaten. We also tried the cricket and avocado tostadas and they were something fun to try plus it’s an authentic Mexican dish. The brownie was nice and gooey with lovely spices but it didn’t have the crunchy top one expects of a brownie. The waitress was amazing and was working very hard. Again lots of pluses but I wouldn’t leave the atmosphere of Byron Bay for it but if I was staying in Suffolk Park, which I’ve only done once, I would be very happy for this restaurant addition. Thankyou for taking time to review us, 15kimg. We're so glad you enjoyed everything you ate and drank and appreciated the true Mexican flavour! You are right that when the lights go down on our little carpark at night the atmosphere changes, we hope you will come and visit us for dinner sometime and let us show you! Gracias!

Supernatural will have you coming back for more, at least it did us. Boasting a well thought out wine list featuring many Australian and international superstar natural wines. We worked out way from white, orange, rośe through to red, what a ride. If you need some assistance, the staff are super knowledgeable helping you tackle the choice for your tastebuds. Honourable mention, the whacky tasting notes that will subtly inform you whilst providing a good giggle. Stealing the show, the food. A carefully structured menu that delightfully compliments the vino. Our second visit was purely to work our way through the dishes we didn’t manage to squeeze in on the first visit. A must, that ceviche. We will be thinking about Andres ceviche for far longer than post holiday blues. Supernatural is so much more than a sip and snack wine bar, it’s quirky charm will have you hooked.
