Jason's Deli is described as a "fast casual delicatessen chain" that was founded in Beaumont, Texas, in 1976. Today, there are 268 locations in 29 states. So why did it take so long for my wife and I to discover this neighborhood deli concept? We visited two locations in the Chicago area, then discovered another one while vacationing in Sarasota, Florida. Now they seem to be popping up everywhere. Good for us. Our most recent discovery was at 1530 McConnor Parkway in Schaumburg. Home to the massive Woodfield Shopping Mall, Schaumburg is one of Chicago's most vibrant suburbs. So it figures that Jason's Deli would get in on the action. The first thing that attracted me to Jason's Deli was its chicken pot pie, rated one of the best served at any restaurant in the Chicago area according to one survey. But Jason's Deli is so much more. We always start with the salad bar and tomato basil or Irish potato or chicken noodle soup or spring seafood gumbo. That's a meal in itself. If I pass up the chicken pot pie, I usually choose penne pasta and meatballs or hot corned beef sandwich or wild salmon sandwich or roasted turkey breast. My wife prefers the hot pastrami or Reuben. For dessert, we usually share a big plate of strawberry shortcake. We love to take home a fresh baked macadamia nut cookie and a fudge-nut brownie. You will, too.

In our travels, my wife and I have dined at Olive Garden locations from Lincolnwood to Orland Park to Oswego to Charleston to Sarasota to Peoria to Paducah. And we have never been disappointed. The restaurant chain that specializes in Italian-American cuisine, the one that offers a unique unlimited soup, salad and breadsticks appetizer, the one that displays photographs of all of its menu items on the internet, always satisfies its customers with quality food with abundant portions, friendly and attentive service and a comfortable atmosphere to enjoy it all. On our latest visit to an Olive Garden location, we had dinner at 1925 East Golf Road in northwest suburban Schaumburg, not far from the massive Woodfield Mall. Love the ambiance. Olive Garden offers an expansive menu with many options. You can even create your own pasta bowl by choosing one of six pastas, one of five home-made sauces and one of six toppings. But we prefer a standard order--minestrone, salad and breadsticks, herb-grilled salmon, spaghetti and meatballs, tiramisu and black tie mousse cake. Looking for something more non-traditional? Try the Tuscan sirloin or Chianti braised beef with ricotta gnocchi or braised beef and tortellini. At Olive Garden, you're sure to find something hot and delicious.

Fresh & delicious breakfast, lunch, dinner & catering, we're dedicated to keeping you happy in your Corner of the world.
We stopped at this Corner Bakery on our way home from Woodfield. The staff is friendly and pretty efficient. We ordered a linguine with meatballs to carry-out. The linguine with meatballs was an ample portion for two to share, and it was tasty. The price was reasonable.

This place was PACKED with people. Apparently the pricey food doesn't bother them one bit. Food is tasty, just seems expensive for portions. Friendly patrons, helpful with directions. Panera counter staff always seem gruff to me, not in a hurry to help, and if you have to look the menu over because you're not familiar, it's a total shaming look. But I do like the atmosphere. Yummy fruity drink. This was definitely the place to be on a Saturday.
