This was lovely setting but mistakes were made with orders. Had to ask what we had ordered. My steak was cold bits of gristle as well as uninteresting as it was meat, rocket and pecorino slices on top of the meat. We got the feeling that if you ordered a bottle of wine you were treated differently . The majority of people eating were guests of the hotel. When we checked the bill we had been over-charged for three glasses of wine and not the spritzer we had ordered. Overall it was a pleasant meal but nothing to write home about.

We had time to kill after catching a train and this osteria was busy with local people. After a few highly trip advisor rated tourist trap disappointments in Italy we decided to follow our eyes and noses. This place was packed with local people and the smells were amazing. The waitresses and waiters were lovely. The pizza was excellent as was the tuna pasta. Coffee was great and the whole thing cost less than 40euro. Go here if you are in Poggibonsi.

The food, the service, spot on.This restaurant is hidden in the Galleria Cavalieri Ordine Vittorio Veneto in pogbionsi. This has to be the dining experience in Italy for me. The food was exquisite and service was exceptional.you have to try the highly recommended squid ink risotto. Italy generally has been a let down in terms of service. But this culinary experience exceeded all my expectations.kudos to the chef( who made time to come by the table and say hello) and the management team.

Ristorante Alcide embodies everything that you are looking for in a restaurant, genuine and warm hospitality, excellent food, good wine, lots of locals, priced right and unpretentious. The host explained to us that their restaurant has been in the family for 150 years (5 generations!). We were so lucky to have stumbled at this restaurant and then dine there twice, because this is the kind of place where we felt the people were proud of their restaurant and cared about the food they cooked. We need to highlight a few dishes:1. Cod mousse - complimentary. It was sooooo good! The fish was so fresh and so light. I wished I knew how to make this.2. Cacciucco, which is a Tuscan seafood soup, a signature dish of this restaurant. Delicious, quite large and is served as a meal in itself. 3. Polpo crostano (octopus sitting on a toasted bread with the rich tomato sauce of the cacciucco), so yummy. The octopus was so tender and cooked perfectly. It's a large antipasto. 4. Trio of seafood taster (risotto with calamari, penne with clams/shrimp and spaghetti with mixed seafood wrapped and cooked in aluminum foil. This was a great choice, all dishes were great, but the spaghetti a little on the salty side. The risotto was fabulous. They offer these dishes on their own as a primi. This trio is a large portion for one person, but it was perfect to be shared. 4. You must order the ricotta with pear! This dolci was so good and light! The whole experience on our 2 visits were fabulous from beginning to end! You know when you are at the right place when there are lots of locals, who have been coming there for years. I was talking to a young lady next to our table and she works in San Gimignano and brought her Mom to dine at Alcide and who apparently has been a regular customer; she told me that the fresh fish is very good, which we unfortunately didn't try. The town of Poggibonsi is out of the touristic path, but if you are staying in San Gimignano, it's worth going to Alcide for the best seafood in the area! Our bill came to â¬50-60 ordering 3 dishes, dessert, wine and Vin Santo. This is very reasonable for fresh seafood. Thanks, Roberta, for your warmest hospitality and serving us such good food in Tuscany! We'll carry fond memories of your restaurant! We hope to visit again!
