Antica Trattoria Suban

We found the Antica Trattoria Suban via TripAdvisor and what a find this was! They offer about 15 dishes but they are all immaculately made and perfectly representative of the local cuisine. Prices are more than OK for what is on offer (expect to pay about 15 Euro for a second course, 6 Euro for desert, a bottle of great wine is about 20). Food is magnificent, well prepared and well balanced. And the deserts are to die for...try the ice cream! Service was absolutely great, very knowledgeable and courteous, with complimentary dishes from the house. The restaurant itself is a bit outside the city centre but you can easily find free parking spaces outside. Reserve in advance - the place tends to get full! Respect for what the founder of this restaurant has done! A very highly recommended establishment!

This restaurant is not in Vrsar Harbour it’s out side the harbour on the main road out of town tucked in an urbanization area. It took us s while to find it and about 15 mins pleasurable walk from the harbour. We ordered a variety of food between us soup, fish, pasta meat and salad. The restaurant is nothing flash but the food is delicious. The waiter was super helpful with his recommendations, in fact I found the menu hard to decipher as it was written in many languages, we ended up explaining to the waiter what foods we liked and he recommended dishes from this information and he got all our meals spot on. I would recommend you to eat here if you would like a tasty meal and friendly service and reasonable prices. We would eat here again.

While visiting the Cathedral S. Giusto, we asked the person tending the gift shop for a lunch recommendation. Upon arrival, a glance along the street left us dubious. Inside, however, the meal and the friendly service were great. Seek it out if you are hungry for seafood and in the vicinity!

We were happy when we got a table for dinner but that didn’t last long. Apart from the fact that the menu was in Italian only, the waiter/owner didn’t seem willing to translate for us more than ‘it’s fish dish’. Moreover, between courses there was 50 mins gap and although we asked about our food he answered that everyone else is waiting. Which was not true because all the tables around us already finished their dessert by the time we got our plates. We were the only tourists/ non-Italians in the restaurant and felt a bit ignored and delayed. When finally the dish came he made an inappropriate comment ‘I told you it will come’ , plus it was awful! My mussels were literally full of sand, I gave up when I saw that each one is the same plus I felt so sick after for entire night. My bf’s calamari was more of an appetizer portion than a main. I don’t recommend this place unless maybe if you are a local!
