Local bar and grill in Mount Vernon, Washington with a view of Big Lake, great food, friendly people, shuffleboard, darts, and live music every Saturday night.
We have been here a number of times, don't know that we will return.Last time we had the salmon dinner, quite $$, and quite bad, especially for the $$. The fish & chips were quite bland, and the fries with them arrived quite cold. Not real appetizing.Out of favorite beer, and the other choices were not interesting.Tired of trying different menu options, and not finding anything worth coming back for, nothing more than average, don't see what folks think is good here.
Having driven past this place many times on the way into Mount Vernon, we finally stopped so I could get a coffee, which didnât turn out very well. My guess is that it is mostly a bakery and not so much a serious coffee place. When I asked if they had a good dark chocolate for a mocha, they replied that they used cocoa. Ugh. Okay, I asked what kind of chai they have. Big Train.Ugh again (way too sweet). Did they have cold brew coffee? Yes! So, I asked for a cold brew, heated up. I received the cup, paid, got into the car, drove away, and then took a sip. Ugh. It was barely tepid. Not hot at all. I think it was heated in a microwave, but not long enough. The one gluten-free cookie I had was equally ordinary. I wanted to try this place. Thatâs done. There is a lot of competition for coffee in these parts. I donât think Anna Marieâs makes the grade.

Our first visit to Mount Vernon, and we happened to stop at The Lunch Box for a late lunch. A "down home" café, friendly, clean, modest. I ordered the soup of the day, taco soup, and a salad. Fantastic! Great prices, best taco soup I've had. Stopping here isn't about fancy, just good basic food and service. This will be our place to stop when we come through again.
