Most Popular Soups food in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, United States

Find out what Soups restaurants to try in Martha's Vineyard. Yes, getting there is a bit of a project. But vacationers have been braving the ferry for years, and this tiny island off Cape Cod remains one of the most popular and picturesque destinations in New England. Among the island's towns, you're sure to find the Vineyard that's right for you. With stately Greek revival houses dating back to the whaling era of the early 19th century, Edgartown is a seaside village of boutique shopping and pristine harbor views. For more of a "beach town" feel, Oak Bluffs has the Flying Horses carousel, an arcade and an easy walk to the beach, plus the history and charm of the "gingerbread" houses in the Methodist campgrounds. Vineyard Haven offers visitors a blend of both. For a real retreat, Chilmark/Aquinnah is the place to get away from it all. In the off-season, the island is quieter and far less crowded, but the shore is always beautiful. Whenever you visit, leave your car behind! Cabs are plentiful and greet the incoming ferries to help you reach your destination. Most visitors prefer to explore the island on a bicycle, scooter or tourist-friendly public buses.

Menemsha Fish Market

We drove 30 minutes for supposedly the best lobster roll on MV. What a joke ! Really a fish house that sells some chowder and lobster rolls. The chowder was cold and in a tiny Dixie cup. Three to four spoonfuls at best. The lobster roll was so skimpy and flavorless that I was tempted to ask for my money back . No place to sit , broken tables - just a nightmare!

On this trip we didn't have takeout, but bought a generous, locally fished piece of Sea Bass to have at our cottage. It did not disappoint. Historically, the takeout selection of cooked or prepared foods (e.g. chowders and lobsters) have been a pleasure to consume. None of the fish markets on the Vineyard are cheap, but the quality and freshness of the locally sourced seafoods are worth it.

The chowder was perfectly made—right amount of salt, perfectly cut potatoes, perfectly diced clams. My husband had the lobster roll and I had shrimp cocktail. Not the best shrimp cocktail I’ve ever had, but not bad. The lobster roll was delicious. They have a really good bar with great drink selections—wines, beers, vodkas, and tequilas. Checked out the loft upstairs and it was hopping. We left to get Backdoor Donuts, but would return to play darts, pool, etc. Great place.

I was beyond hungry when we showed up...no waiting around 6:15. We ordered quickly. Hot bread arrived quickly, took the edge off my hunger.I ordered steak tips;very tender, very juicy! Mashed potatoes were real. My fussy husband ordered the garlic crusted cod; he pronounced his entire meal as “tops”. Well prepared. We watched the ferries going out and coming in; It is very entertaining to sit in this restaurant and watch the harbor.Pricing was very reasonable.
