We had lunch at Cafe Bishco a few years ago but the place has since changed owners, so this was our first time under new management. The variety of hot & cold sandwiches offered is amazing. They also feature at least six different soups, including our favorite Lemon, Chicken & Rice. We ordered two bowls of that along with a Chicken-sundried tomato-tomato-provolone-mixed greens panini. The server who took our order at the counter was very friendly and helpful. I also appreciated that she asked if we wanted the soup plus 1/2 sandwich special. The soup was absolutely delicious and came in a very generously sized bowl with two slices of fresh bread. It was a meal in itself, really a stand-out! The sandwich was also big with plenty of fresh ingredients. My only issue with it was that it lacked flavor and spice. This could easily be rectified by seasoning the chicken breasts prior to broiling them, and maybe adding a little salt & pepper to the sundried tomato paste. Other than that we were very pleased with our lunch.

A tour guide at Beauport suggested this as a âpub that locals enjoy with good food.â That is probably the best description located just at the edge of the downtown this pub was filled with locals having lunch or a drink. The food was very good and I was happy with the vegetarian options. The portabella sandwich was delicious as was the cole slaw. My husband had the grilled halibut and praised it as fresh and cooked just right. The waitress was friendly and efficient. The place is well run. Orders were taken shortly after we arrived. The food came quickly but we never felt rushed. Our bill with 2 excellent iced teas $32.

This place is unbelievable, prices are reasonable and portions are HUGE, their cup of clam chowder is a bowl any other place and it is excellent. I had the steak tips and they were exceptionally good. Everything they have is great, only downside is it is a cash only place.

*Now taking reservations for large group functions September-April* BONS winners for fried clams and clam chowder we serve classic New England seafood with recipes dating back to 1956. Featuring 12 specialty home made desserts, local fresh (never frozen)
The people at the little maritime museum across the way recommended this restaurant. We were looking for a late afternoon snack. It looks like a diner from the outside. It is gigantic inside. Many rooms. Our snack turned into a great fried Ipswich Belly clam lunch/dinner. One platter was enough for us to share with a cup of chowder to start. I rarely get fried clams, as they are usually small, and stringy. These were nice big belly clams and fresh. Two sides came with it. The slaw was very good and we got the green beans. The cornbread was like a dessert! Service was friendly and attentive. Drink refills came when needed.
