This restaurant offers good, traditional food (including local specialities). Good service. Portions are large and a half-portion is perfectly adequate for all but the heartiest of appetites. The restaurant feels very unchanged from probably the late 1970s or 1980s, but in a good way. There is also a café/snack bar adjacent to the restaurant.

A beautiful dining room with linen tablecloths and napkins. We were served by young attentive professional staff. The menu offered a nice variety of local seafood and meats all cooked simply in Portuguese style. The pork and lamb were delicious. The fish was also simply grilled and excellent. They have an extensive wine list and the staffs suggestions were good. Prices were quite reasonable. We enjoyed it so much we went back the next day.

They opened after noon; probably need time to prepare the delicious food they serve. We were lucky to sit outside enjoying the magnificent view of the river and the pretty town of Dornes (there was no horrible smoker.) The waitress was very friendly and informative. We had fish from the river and roast lamb with local wine plus pumpkin pudding. It was one of those experiences that one doesn't want to end. Don't miss it if in Dornes.
