Find out what Slovenian restaurants to try in Gorizia. Gorizia [ɡoˈrittsja] listen (help·info) (Slovene: Gorica, colloquially stara Gorica 'old Gorizia', German: Görz, Friulian: Guriza) is a town and comune in northeastern Italy, in the autonomous region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is located at the foot of the Julian Alps, bordering Slovenia. It is the capital of the Province of Gorizia and a local center of tourism, industry, and commerce. Since 1947, a twin town of Nova Gorica has developed on the other side of the modern-day Italian–Slovenian border. The entire region was subject to territorial dispute between Italy and Yugoslavia after World War II: after the new boundaries were established in 1947 and the old town was left to Italy, Nova Gorica was built on the Yugoslav side. Taken together, the two towns constitute a conurbation, which also includes the Slovenian municipality of Šempeter-Vrtojba. Since May 2011, these three towns are joined in a common trans-border metropolitan zone, administered by a joint administration board.

This lovely restaurant, tucked in the hills of SanFloriano, specializes in what Americans refer to as âfarm to tableâ. As an American and Italian couple, we offer a good perspective, and DVOR does not disappoint! We chose the fixed price tasting menu, which included local favorites and beautiful presentation. A great appeal is the wide assortment of Collio wines by the glass, reasonably priced, allowing a wide variety throughout the meal. The service was wonderful and attentive, and the chef served several courses himself. Highly recommended!Thank you very much for your beautiful review! It was a pleasure to have you in our restaurant and we hope you have a chance to come visit us again!

Sometimes I had good food here. But the last time I was there the food was really terrible. I had to ask the waiter for another meal. This was OK, but far from very good. The service was very good. Ambient is OK too.

Few times... but.... not exactly what you would expect. Situated on the border with Italy. Very trendy spot. Food is ok. But we have to be honest - nothing extreme. And absolutely to expensive for what it offers. Toilettes poor and untidy. You can get much better restaurants in the area. If you miss this one, you do not miss much.

I had lunch today at this simple yet very popular trattoria or gostilna in Slovenian. They don't have a set menu as everyday they serve different dishes.I tried their pasta (tagliatelle) with ragù sauce and their roasted chicken .Very delicious and rates are very reasonable Highly recommended

Pikol is lovely log cabin on a small lake minutes from Nova Gorica. It's family run and lovingly prepared. We had apperitifs outside and the rest of our meal inside. One of the special treats was the tableside preparation of carpaccio. Fascinating to watch a pro at work. Most satisfying to taste whst he's prepared. The food is superb and it's served well. One caveat: You will never be rushed, but lots of time may pass while waiting.. We were there for four and a half hours.

In the center of Nova Gorica, a lot of space for groups or couples. Nice atmosphere and (factory) design. Nice service, great burgers. Could add a bit more fries, which were also great.

I like everything about that place, but what you must try there is "pollo fritto" (baked chicken) and Ljubljanska ( baked steak with cheese and ham)

We stopped to eat dinner on the way to Slovenia. The service was friendly, and the food was good but the portions were enormous and meant for sharing, so do not order a plate per diner as it will go to waste

This restaurant may technically be in Italy, but its menu has clear influences from nearby Austria and Slovenia. The interior is full of fun decorations and the staff wear Austrian dirndl outfits. Lovely atmosphere and good quality food. The free glass of Grappa at the end was a nice gesture.

The hotel and casino have a very nice à la carte restaurant, quite unexpectedly. Top class service, very nice food, great Slovenian wine. The somewhat oldfashioned atmosphere is something I like (so do not expect anything trendy here). I spent a very pleasant evening here. My bill amounted to a mere 35 EUR, including half a bottle of truly magnificent Slovenian wine. Yes, this is a place to return to.
