Very recently my partner and I had the VERY good fortune to stop at this venue for coffee and cake. We were met by a very personable host and later in the week learned the new owner of this place. As a result, we ate two dinners there and would have eaten a third but called back to where we live unexpectedly. Our second dinner, the host told us we could order anything, even change and add to what we wanted. The cooking area is upstairs were we sat both times and could see the chef in progress. I am an American Expat and partner native German. While English does not seem to be really flowing off their tongues, they tried. So sorry we could not eat there a third time. Seeing Gideon F comments, we wonder if that person was either angry or ? Had nothing like that stated seperience.

It was cold and rainy. The Fischerklause looked inviting and offers free parking, so we decided to try it. The restaurant was lit by candles, panelled with wood, and displayed antiques with a maritime feeling. The menu was not too large, but catered to fish and meat lovers as well as vegetarians. We were a bit puzzled by the schnitzel stuffed with cheese and pineapple, but apparently this is a regional speciality, and the waiter was happy to offer a plain schnitzel, or one stuffed only with cheese. The service was attentive, and there were good beers and wines. On our first visit, one of us had an unstuffed schnitzel, and the others had mixed fish platters. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we returned every evening of our three day stay in Zingst. We were particular impressed with the fish soup, Saute potatoes (bratkartoffel), Chanterelle (Pfefferlinge) mushrooms in a cream sauce, schnitzel, cod (Dorsch) and fresh fried herrings.

My wife, brother, and sister-in-law were visiting nearby Barth at the site of Stalag Luft One where my father was a POW for nine months during WWII. We decided to go to Zingst for dinner and were looking for a good seafood restaurant and checked Trip Advisor which we always do when out of town. We stopped at Skipper which had good reviews and both inside and outside seating. We got there about 6:30 and went inside and saw the greeter and told her we had a party of 4. She just said "NO!" in a very rude voice. She did not offer any other explanation or when seats would become available. There were available tables we could see both inside and outside the restaurant. We were all shocked by her bluntness. We were not sure if the treatment we received was because we were speaking english rather than german. In any event it left a bad taste in our mouths and we went back to Barth where we did enjoy a very nice seafood dinner. I have writeen over 130 reviews on TripAdvisor and have rarely given a bad review of a restaurant, and certainly never given a review with only 1/5 but this restaurant is certainly deserving of this rating.
