We stayed one night in Worms and were fortunate in our choice of hotel and restaurant, both run by Italians. Viva Italia! Tivoli restaurant was the real McCoy. Good ingredients, treated with care and expertise. We had antipasti served with a thin, rosemary focaccia. The rosemary was unusually soft and tender. Simple food, but delicious. Portions were Italian size, rather than German, which suited us as we had to undergo a heat wave during our 10 days in Germany. We each chose different past dishes - again simple but excellent. Again the heat prompted us to choose the lighter of the two Nero d'Avola wines on offer. A perfect meal.

"Ambiente": Enjoyable hours on two floors At the Wormser Weckerlingplatz, the cuisine and the historic surroundings are combined with Italian charm The married couples Lina and Mario D'Errico and the A team spoil their guests in a stylish ambience. The "R
Ambiente is without any doubt the best italian restaurant in Worms. The food is1st class great variety with also great daily specials... and that is the tip. Ask about the specials, there's always a selection of handmade pasta, great seafood and also great meat. But if you are of just for a pizza, their pizza is also very good (for german standards).

I have known this restaurant for quite some time, even before they moved to their new location in 'Bebelstrasse. The food has always been superb, but the noise level made me give it 4 instead of 5 points. When it fills up (and it fills up quickly, so better make a reservation) you have to shout to your friend to be heard. To the owner: please, please, put up some curtains, rugs or similar items to absorb at least some of the noise. You food is fantastic, but I am so tired of going out to dinner with someone and having to yell to make myself heard

There are three Italian restaurants more or less next to each other. Last year we tried the neighbor of Portofino, this time Portofino. It has the usual selection of Italian dishes, nothing exceptional, but OK. Choice of open white wine is limited. We had a nice meal.
