This family oriented Restaurant is located in a tranquil garden setting of the Karoo Desert National Botanical Garden. For elderly or disabled people there is a drop off zone in front of the restaurant. There is a cozy fire place which lures people on col
When we went to the Karoo Desert Garden we weren't sure whether there was any food/drinks outlet there. We were pleasantly surprised to find a fully fledged restaurant near the entrance. The menu looked enticing and everything we had was excellent. If the chocolate cheesecake is available, go for it! The staff were very friendly and the prices reasonable.Apparently, the restaurant had recently re-opened after a prolonged shutdown and the new owners had revamped the place and the offerings completely. They deserve to do well.

We are a group of 16 people who go out to eat once a month. I tried to book at De Breede at the Cumberland Hotel, but I got the distinct impression that we were not wanted. Firstly they would not let me have a copy of the menu so that we could see the kind of foods and prices. (We usually tell the restaurant what we are going to order before the time as we are such a big group.)Secondly they would not put me through to the restaurant, or the owner of the Hotel. They kept telling me he was busy and then put the telephone down on me. I phoned a second time and asked for him to phone be back, well that never happened either. On my third call I managed to get through to the Restaurant and was told once again that they would not let us see the menu. Perhaps they should close as they obviously are not patron friendly.
