The Old School Restaurant is a favourite. Food is fresh and delicious, service is great, and the setting is very unique! I have eaten here in 2016 and 2019 on trips to Isle of Skye. You will likely need reservations, as it is a popular establishment. I highly recommend you try it.

We stumbled across Flodigarry while we were looking for somewhere to grab lunch and saw the sign for their Soup Kitchen. As soon as we walked in, sodden from the rain, along with our large German Shepherd, we were warmly greeted and told the whole hotel was dog friendly, so we could sit in the restaurant with our dog while we ate! When we were seated, we were given a menu of approximately a dozen different soups to choose from, suitable for vegetarians and meat eaters. The menu explained exactly what was in the soup, to the extent of what stock was used. I choose the French Onion Soup and my partner choose The Pea and Pie Soup. The Onion Soup came with a massive cheese crouton and the pea soup had an actual full steak pie in it! The soups were amazing and worth every penny, filling us up for the rest of the day. Our dog was given fresh water, tables were moved to let him lie down and he was given plenty of treats and cuddles from staff and other customers! Flodigarry is one of the top dog friendly places we have been to.The whole hotel and grounds are stunning, while the staff are warm and just brilliant people.I would definitely recommend dining here-we are even looking at staying a few nights here next time we visit the area as we felt, along with our dog, so welcomed here.

Welcome to The Market Place, Isle of Skye. We provide delicious local produce cooked superbly and great hot and cold drinks. Enjoy them in our newly transformed deli cafe or take them away to have at home or to savour on your travels on Skye.
As we walked in to the establishment we were not greeted nor acknowledged by the one member of staff on the premises which left us standing, feeling lost. Do we sit down, do you order at the till? With no guidance from the waitress/cook we preceded to look at the menu that we could see, at the till. The waitress/cook finally took our order and we asked if we should sit down. She said "Oh, you're eating in?" and mentioned nothing of the fact that there was a separate menu (and prices) for dining in. There was in fact a sit-in menu which we were never shown or told of and we ended up paying +£8 more for sitting-in. We were very disappointed with the way we were treated. It had been easy for the waitress/cook to inform us of the different prices and yet she chose not to. As for the food, it is (if you're sitting in) at the same price point as many, more pleasant, establishments in Portree. The service was slow but this is understandable with only one member of staff. The portions were of a generous size, although the food (especially the fish and chips) was a little bland but fairly tasty indeed. The brownie was very good as well. The food it self deserves a higher rating, however, the service was a massive let down. Lastly, it made us uneasy seeing the waitress/cook sniffing the fresh (??) meat/fish before frying it. Making us doubt the freshness of the items.Good evening. Having looked at and selected from the headed takeaway menu, it is presupposed you are taking-away! You were welcomed to a table quickly following that and brought drinks etc. I continue to enjoy your oxymoron in the second paragraph 'a little bland but fairly tasty indeed'. Have you any awareness of food? Fresh gamey Isle of Skye venison smells great. And btw it's not fried, it's grilled! You enjoyed that and your fresh Highland fish and chips too. Check backs and empty plates don't lie. If you had any doubt about the quality here i doubt you would have selected a dessert to take away with you too! The only problem came when the prices were not what you wished for. I'm really sad for you that one of the things you had to do on Christmas Eve was lay into me. Your grammar is terrible, making us doubt your intelligence.

Service was excellent. Friendly jovial and correct level of attentiveness. The situation, ie the view, could not be bettered. Cullen skink was superb. No need for seasoning. Never had lamb so tender. Literally have no idea how the chef achieves this. Wine selection high class. The hotel and conservatory restaurant are in a delightful position, particularly when the tide is in. The food was good but pretty standard fare. The crab cake starter was a bit dull and tasteless but our main courses, fish and chips and chicken breast were well-cooked and tasty. However, the menu was on the dull side: nothing grabbed us, hence our choices. Service was friendly and efficient.

After waiting outside for around 30 mins we were given a table! It was worth the wait. I wouldnât say itâs the best seafood restaurant I have eaten in however the Food here is very good and service also. Not too expensive either.

We did not have a booking for the restaurant but took a chance and managed to secure a table for two in the small cosy restaurant. The waitress was very efficient and friendly considering she was the only one there and managed to get drinks from the bar also with no trouble. We ordered the mackerel pate and chowder to start followed by the smoked haddock/ black pudding risotto and seafood linguine. Meals were delicious and struggled to finish. Very reasonably priced and generous portions. Would recommend this restaurant as a must when visiting Portree. Will get back there again hopefully.

Charming restaurant situated in converted traditional house with views over Portree Harbour. We sell good quality home cooked contemporary food including including steaks and seafood.
Me and several friends visited No 1 for a Christmas meal recently and it was superb. The food was excellent with the most amazing slow roasted pork belly I have ever tasted. The staff were friendly and easy-going without being formal which was pleasant. I was a actually pleasantly surprised at the place and would definitely go back.

This is a seafood restaurant but with great vegetarian and vegan options. The veg options are tasty, imaginative and nutritionally balanced, which as any vegetarian will know, is a rare thing. The service is friendly and efficient, the location is great, right on the harbourside. It is excellent value for money, but make sure you book in advance.

An intimate and contemporary Scottish restaurant with classic French influences in the beautiful fishing village of Stein, Isle of Skye.
I can't remember when I last enjoyed a meal as much. Everything about this lunch was perfect. Mid week, mid October, wet and windy outside. But inside is a little gourmet haven which you honestly wouldn't expect to find in quite such a remote location. It is so relaxed, no stuffiness at all. Everyone chatting and clearly having fun. Excellent service and brilliant food. It's rare to eat a meal where every course is of the same high standard and every element on every plate is equally successful and delicious.I take my hat off to the chef and thank him for giving me and my husband such a memorable experience. Now all I have to persuade him to do is to give me the recipe for clootie dumpling...!
