Four of us, all family, stayed for two nights at Waterford Castle Hotel, where this restaurant is located. Having read rave reviews, I sent an e-mail before arrival, enquiring about the dress code, and was told that jacket and tie were essential. This was the only establishment where this was required on our holiday, but I packed jacket, tie and black shoes, and traipsed them over from South Africa. We were all very irritated to find that, on the first night, we were the only people wearing ties and jackets and, on the second night, they even admitted patrons with T-shirts and pushing a baby carriage! Fortunately, the baby was quite good but, if a restaurant demands a dress code, they must stick to it,as it is an irritant for those who bother to do so. This, however, does not detract from the fact that this is an outstanding restaurant. The service is superb, and the table beautifully appointed. The wine list is also very good. During our two days we were very well looked after by Fiona King, Cathal and David. We all had different dishes, and they were exceptional. When we arrived on the second night, we expressed slight dismay that the menu( which is, thankfully, not extensive) was the same as the previous night. Fiona consulted the chef, and we were offered monkfish. When it arrived, it was as good as any fish I have eaten anywhere in the world. If asked by anyone where I would have dinner in Waterford, this is it. It is an expensive restaurant- as is the hotel- but it was worth every cent. Very highly recommended. TonyC Hilton.

We found this restaurant online. It had great reviews and a wonderful menu, so we made reservations a week in advance. When we arrived, they sat us at a table in the bar, under a very loud speaker. When we pointed out we had reservations, their explanation was that they had several large parties occupying their dining room. This was 6:30 on a Saturday night. We couldn't stay due to the noise and had a hard time finding a table at another restaurant at that time. Very disappointed they wouldn't honor the reservation.Dear Ellen R,Thank you for taking your time to review us on TripAdvisor. Please accept my apologies for your last visit. We are the premier venue in the city and we are always fully booked on Saturday. I am sorry that allocated table did not satisfy you and I am sorry we did not find you an appropriate seating. I am sure we could have dealt with this issue better and I can assure we will implement this matter in our training program. Please do not hesitate to contact me on [email protected] to discuss this matter further. Thank you.Sincerely,Paulius

Great location, great service and excellent food. The seafood crepe was a masterpiece and the fish and chips were among the best we've ever had. Lovely restaurant, full of character, and the staff are wonderful. The menu prices are mid-range, we spent 100 Euros on dinner and drinks for four.

In the heart of Waterford City is a restaurant that champions the local food experience. Vaguely Spanish in decor with a funky eclectic mix of food and ambiance that may well be described as Mediterranean. Most definitely, not a conventional Irish restaur
Bodega was my choice for a catch up with some really close friends on Friday last. As usual- the welcome was warm and relaxed despite the fact that we arrived a little late and with an extra friend! Nothing was a problem. Food was excellent for every one of us and the pace of the evening perfect. We had faultless service and despite chatting away until well after midnight - never once felt under pressure to leave. I would highly recommend.

We went here for a family meal together. We ate from the early bird menu, the market menu and the a la carte menu. Food was sublime and the fish dish in the early bird menu every bit as good as the lobster dish from the a la carte menu. Lobster was perfectly cooked and the sauce so good a really superb dish and a compliment to the chef that the fish of the day from the early bird menu was equally good which speaks volumes for kitchen especially when the owner chef was not in the kitchen that night. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their starters and mains and dessert was every bit as good as the mains. Service was excellent and advice on wines honest and very helpful. A fantastic family meal from a superb restaurant that didn't break the bank. We'll be back.

On a recent golf weekend with Shannon Town Golf Society, this restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel. As there were 13 of us we were surprised at the friendly service and welcome we received. The food was first class and the staff went out of there way to cater for all of our requests for variations on the menu. Each and everyone of our group left the restaurant singing it's praises.Would certainly return.
