While we have been going to Nice for decades, this was our first time exploring a bit of the commuter town on the other side of the river. Our last night before flying home, we were staying at a local motel and resigned to a less than premium dining experience. The long restaurant row along the shore contains plenty of bars, ethnic spots and rather generic places that seem to cater to every taste.Relying on TA reviews and our own instincts and experience, we were drawn to Sant'Ana. The daily menu, the ambiance and the friendly staff made us feel we would be having a well crafted meal. This is a high quality restaurant with considerable skill in preparing seafood. We had some lovely beignets of zucchini blossoms and a very generous seafood paella This is a moderately expensive restaurant, but well worth it. It is as good as many restaurants we have patronized in NIce proper for many years. It is good enough to make us consider staying in the same locale at the end of future trips. It was refreshing to have a really professional waiter who kept our wine glasses full.

Perfect location for this lovely beach restaurant only a stone-throw away from Marina Baie des Anges. Delicious home-made food. Friendly & welcoming staff. And last but not least you can have the free use of their private beach (loungers and parasols) when you have lunch there on week days. We will definitely go back.

Had a beautiful birthday lunch yesterday at La Maree. Started with the mussels d'espagnes baked open shell with a garlic and herb sauce. Next, for my meal I had the gourmand oyster platter - an assortment of huitres from the Normandy coast served with brown bread and shallot sauce. I could taste the salt water and the freshness was definitely genuine. Our wine was a bottle of Sancerrea perfect match with the PlateauSpecial 15 Huitres. Service was very good and I will return again next year for my traditional birthday luncheon !My husband ordered a rib eye steak - he was a bit disappointed however, I think it's a mistake to order a steak at a sea food restaurant ...

Place is clean, 70âs-style. Food is fairly good although it actually looks better than it tastes. Staff is friendly,... except. Out of 4 people, only one waitress works fervently. The rest of the crew seems to be enjoying watching her work. Although the restaurant is packed, the boss keeps talking with guests instead of helping serve the dishes. You can see food getting cold. Sad but not unusual. The actual weak spot is the the guy in charge of the barm looks like heâs never done that before and doesnât want to learn the job either. Heâs always talking and never working. Prices are surprisingly fair. All in all, commendable place.

Had a fantastic lunch here! Given the quality atmosphere and ambiance we prepared ourselves for an expensive experience! Not so at all. It was exceptional value for a fantastic three course meal and great bottle of wine! Good (but slightly limited) choice for vegetarians. Really enjoyed the food and the service! Top tip; take the plat de jour and recommended wine.
