This fish restaurant is pleasantly situated overlooking a marina, rather grandly titled Varelhaven.The fish is well cooked, although the varieties are fairly limited (sole, eel, shrimps and smoked salmon), and served with a variety of side orders. For non-fish eaters there are the fairly standard German meat dishes, including pork schnitzel in breadcrumbs, beef steaks etc..,We missed a trick in not going for the fish buffet which had pretty much everything on the menu available buffet style (and eel done donner kebab style on a spit which looked intriguing) but even so our food was good, and at a little over â¬70 for four adults and two kids was not badly priced.There is a kids play area with a pirate ship outside, although the fence does not close it off from either the marina or the road so you have to supervise them closely, but all in all a pretty good spot.

I have been here very often, and I do remember when Wilters only had a small counter where you bought "fish on the fist". Later they added a few chairs in the garden, opened a small room against the cold in winter. Now they have a little, well restaurant. You still order your stuff at the counter, but you can then sit down comfortably, inside and in the garden.The choice of fish is quite large and of great quality.

Ich hatte heute Abend Appetit auf eine Spargelcremesuppe und genau diese wurde mir auf einem Schild vor der Tür offeriert. Also kehrte ich ein.Die Suppe war ausgesprochen sämig und von sehr feiner Konsistenz. Das Sahnehäubchen war sehr luftig geschlagen und passte ausgezeichnet dazu. Das beste aber waren die ganz gelassenen Spargelspitzen, die in der Tiefe der Suppe zu finden waren. Dazu wurde frisches Baguettebrot serviert. Die exquisite Küche sorgte ebenso wie das freundliche Personal für einen gelungenen Abend.

The Vareler Brauhaus serves an extensive sea food buffet, and of course also additional meat plates, at the water front of the old port in Varel. The food is good, the location beautiful and the organic beers brewed here are fantastic. Staff is very friendly, kids and dogs are welcome. The ideal place for us.

At nearly 14 euros a head we expected a good spread but sadly we were disappointed. Very little choice. Some solid scrambled egg and a pot of boiled eggs. Only two types of bread rolls, a sort of sultana bread and a dark sliced bread. Only orange juice three cereals and three jams with several pots of yogurt presumably. No labels on anything so we wernt sure what things were Some sliced meats some of which were dry and curling up and some thinly sliced cheeses. A bowl of fresh fruit salad was nice. Coffee was tepid and on our enquiry if we could have a latte we were informed theyâd have to charge 3.50 on top which is outrageous really. Iâd like to say the staff were friendly but they werenât really. The first lady who greeted us grumbled that breakfast was finished at 11.30 so my husband did point out it was only 10.35All in all I think theyâd best not bother with breakfast. It is lack lustre and boring and certainly not worth the money.
