The service was good, a bit to strict for me. A smile makes people feel welcome. The food was good, with a excellent verity of dishes. This made choosing the dish hard, in this case it left me wondering if there was a better option. However tasty that my dish was, it just missed something. However the pizza that somebody else ordered had that little bit extra. That tasted great. As a desert I ordered the holy grail of german deserts âvanilleeis mit heiÃen himbeerenâ. Warm raspberryâs with vanilla ice. However the sauce was not hot enough, and there where ice flakes in the vanilla ice. This lowered my experience, however the sauce was great. Often you get the frozen Raspberries, but this was the real deal. However because of these flaws this was spoiled a bit. But these a point that they can work on. But Iâm nitpicking, great experience, and would come again when Iâm in the neighborhood. Also very cheap. 8 euro's for a pizza.

I had one of my best meals ever here! And without knowing what to expect: the menu is only in German, and the server speaks no English. One of the kitchen staff was brought to assist and she could translate the main component of each entrée so I knew I was getting pork and my spouse salmon. (The young woman was remarkably warm and friendly, by the say.) My pork was very tasty medallions--lean and perfectly prepared, accompanied by white asparagrass (lots) and potatoes. The (included) salad bar with several offerings in addition to greens made it a perfect meal. (Cucumber salad, sweet kraut, pickles were among the offerings.) The restaurant itself is charming, with off-street parking that was plenty when we arrived but full when we left. We did not have dessert but saw a remarkable piled-high strawberry sunday being delivered to the next table and were very tempted.

Ended up there pretty much by accident. The staff are welcoming and the food combines traditional regional cuisine with some nice French-inspired twists. Had the game and a crêpe Suzette. Both excellent.

The food was OK, especially for a restaurant in a small town like Hillesheim. The decor is a little on the tight side but nice. Overall just a nice restaurant.
