A mix of locals and tourists in this traditional restaurant a little away from the main drag. My partner’s pork and clams proved as tasty as in the reviews, though it looked unappetising. My fried sea bass with almonds was a dull dry fish and chips. Nice dessert before a 25-minute wait for the bill.

It is on the quay side. Small and a favourite of ours. Owned by two sisters - Julia is M'd - wonderful host. Lunch/tourist menu is excellent value.
Julia and her family continue to serve the best salads in this whole of the Algarve and the best fish in Tavira. The landlady is also very entertaining and a great source of local gossip, but she is often far too busy to stop to talk. Wonderful. Unique. Amazing. Thank you!

We stopped here whilst having a walk around. We originally stopped for a cider, but ended up having tapas. Its sligjtky further along the river. On the first visit, we had the mixed board, which had a mixture of cheeses and meats, and the prawns. The second time we visited we had the same again, but with the eggs and chorizo. It was all very tasty and freshly cooked. It didnt all come out together, just when it was ready. It was the same girl that served us both times. She was really nice, and when we went back the 2nd time, she remembered us from the first time and knew what we ordered previously. We sat outside both times, but there is seating inside as well. A lovely place that we hope to visit again.

Is a place where you are always welcome, and feel like home. Exelent steaks. Just feel the difference. SMALL RESTAURANT . Reservations is very welcome. Thank you.
I went for the Angus sirloin steak and wasn't disappointed My partner opted for the salmon plus prawns and she was impressed, which is praise indeed! All the tables are on street and you need to book at least 24 hours beforehand so to ensure you secure a table!

Small portions of perfectly cooked tuna and sword fish served at a delightful spot on the quayside. We thought the tiny portion of accompanying salad was perhaps more for decoration than anything else and hence a littler meagre for consumption. No serious complaints, but I think we will try another restaurant for our next visit. It just didn't really sparkle like the sea.

My husband and I dined here twice based on recommendations and some convoluted story about owner's grudges with a restaurant down the road. Both times the grilled Octopus, and Octopus Bean Stew and Fresh Tuna salad paled in size and taste to what Casa Do Polvo offers. The food was average. Not horrible. Not super tasty. Great view of the water. Decent red wine sangria. Staff was less than friendly on our first visit and much nicer on the second. My guess is the smaller portion size and resulting slightly cheaper price is the draw since the menu and view are somewhat similar to other octopus joints on the main road! For our next octopus fix, we'll head down to the eastern end of town and grab Casa Do Polvo's Polvo Assado!

The best octopus that I have ever eaten. Octopus carpaccio starter and grilled octopus main course were both fantastic - simple but sooo good. Definitely worth a visit. You may have to wait a while to be seated but it is well worth it.
