It can be quite pricey eating out in the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, our favourite place in Andalucia, so it was nice to find Casa Emilio, tucked in between Los Escullos Hotel and the fortress. We ate in the small dining room alongside the bar which was bright and airy with tables nicely laid with crisp white linen. The two girls on bar and waiting duties were very friendly and helpful and when we complained about the bottle of Rose wine they had no qualms about changing it for a better Rioja. The Menu del dia was â¬15 for three courses; Gazpacho, House Salad or Entremeses (mixed meats and cheese) for starters with a choice of Chicken, Pork, Emperador (Swordfish) or Calamari for the main choice, all served with very nice chips. The dessert list was quite long, and all three of us opted for Contessa (Vienetta to those from UK).All the courses were nicely presented and ciabatta was served on the side, also, unusually, olive oil was brought without asking, as were glasses for the water. The final bill was â¬45 for three which indicates that the wine and water were included.

was charged 43euros for 2 cokes and two fish meals we were given salad that we though came with our somewhat meals and was charged 6euros. we was given bread which we though was a welcoming thing, we was charged 1euro which we didn't ask for nor wanted or ate. my cod was tiny with loads of sauce, partners John Dory was one bit of fish with no veg or sauce. all we wanted was coke and two fish meals and was given things we didnt want and was charged.when we asked to order, the guy just walked off to other people, was it because I'm English and spoke no Spanish? The younger waiter kept looking at me which made me uncomfortable, yes I'm a girl wearing shorts, no need to stare.we didnt even want to eat there, we was walking along having a look at all the restaurants and he harassed us by always doing the "come on" sign. No manners.

Very classy food, particularly with the new special âAlmeria 2019â menu - they give you numerous (mainly fish and seafood) dishes from right across the menu. Even though itâs â¬48, itâs good value for what you get. Good atmosphere and knowledgeable staff - highly recommended.
