Chose this restaurant after a week travelling across Mexico and fancied something different than tacos etc and after a holiday in Peru enjoyed their food. We ordered two types of ceviche, the âregularâ was fine but my wife didnât enjoy the âmixedâ there was something not quite right about the fish component with a strange musty taste and led to an upset stomach. The empanadas were fine but the plantain with cheese were unappetising and inedible, presented quite differently from the menu picture.

Tradicional Mexican sea food. Kids area and parking
He ido varias veces y siempre me atienden súper bien! ¡Gracias! Volveré pronto. :)

A great fusion of Mediterranean and American.
We decided to try El Cipres because I saw fish and chips on the outside sign. While the inside dining area is tiny and a little bleak, just make your way up the iron staircase to the tables on the terrace. There are about 5 small wooden tables as well as chairs around a small fire pit. There's a decent rooftop view and on warm sunny days, lunch under the umbrellas is just perfect. The fish tacos with black beans, rice, and cole slaw make for a substantial and tasty lunch. The combo with fried shrimp, seasoned potato wedges, chicken wings, and ensalada California (cole slaw ) provides a variety of flavors. Really remarkable was the fettuccini with chicken and blue cheese! It was cooked to order: creamy and really tasty, probably the best pasta we have had in San Cristobal. The chef and owner, who had lived many years in California, stops by the table to make certain diners are pleased with their meals. The waitress who runs up and downstairs is very friendly. We have had 2 lunches there and it has definitely become a favorite. The music is not deafening and has a bouncy tropical beat. The metal stairs may present a challenge for older visitors at night. We took a pasta order out and the portion size was enough for 2 people.
