We went for lunch on a Thursday before the season has really started and there were very few people around. The restaurant is slightly away from the majority of the "tourist" restaurants and is worth seeking out. The moules (mussels) were excellent and very good value at 11 Euro. My wife had the burger which was a real taste sensation with home made tomato sauce. Highly recommended!

Went to this restaurant for an early dinner. We had not booked but there was plenty of space. If did however quickly fill up so that by 8pm it was full and people were being turned away.We ordered galettes, I had chèvre chaud with artichoke heart, leeks and cream and my partner the seafood one with mussels, scallops in a wine & cream sauce. Both came quite quickly and looked appetising. They were tasty but both lacked crispness. For pud we had crepes with citron and lemon. These were also tasty but similarly not crisp. We complemented with a bottle of local cider.Service was good with some English spoken which was helpful.

L'Ancrage is highly rated on TripAdvisor and for this reason we choose to have dinner here. We reserved and arrived on time and were quickly seated. The restaurant is small and dark with the decor to simulate the cabin of an old sailing ship.Saint Malo is a very popular tourist destination and the restaurant seemed full with other tourist (like ourselves). Not in itself a bad sign, but the lack of local French was something to think about.... (we're French and this is always something we notice). The server arrived soon and we ordered our meals. When she returned with the wine and asked if we would like a stand for it or prefer the wine bucket placed directly on the table, before she was able to finish the inquiry the manager/owner interrupted her and ordered her not not use the stand. Again, not a big deal but her sternness with the server was impressive....Throughout the evening we witnessed the same kind of "bossiness" toward the other employees to such an extent that we and other diners were becoming uncomfortable and pitying the employees! Several times servers were effectively blocked from carrying out their duties because they had to wait for the OK from Madame the Manager. A several reprise that evening Madame the Manager loudly criticized servers in front of their clients as well as complain to the clients that without her presence, nothing would be done correctly, etc. When it came time to pay our bill, once again only Madame the Manager may touch the cash register so we had to wait while she took orders from 3 other tables (passing by us and saying that she'll be right with us) and seating new arrivals. One wonders what the servers are there for if she has to do everything. I'm not a restaurant manager but clearly Madame the Manager should consider delegation of some of her tasks. But we came for the cuisine, not to observe ineffective management, so how was it? We had a seafood platter (plateau fruits de mer) for 2 persons which included oysters, shrimp, crab, and other assorted seafood / crustaceans. Unfortunately the langoustines were very over cooked and -- let's just say that the "fresh" oysters somewhat less than fresh. On the whole, it was the lowest level of quality for a seafood platter that we've ever had. Still, not abominable but sadly less than average.Would we go again? No.

« Seafood & Hapiness » Oyster Club is the very first Seafood Counter of Dinard! Fond of oenology and seafood, I created a Fish shop/Restaurant concept. Eat in or takeaway authentic, local and revisited dishes⦠A nice selection of wines and a warm welcome
Visited here several times, it's unpretentious with oysters and a variety of seafood. The oysters are expensive considering that the wholesale price of oysters locally is cheap compared to England. The oysters are small too and not very good value for money. Pleasant sitting in the sun just off the main square having seafood and a glass of muscadet.

Would be pleased to have Les Embruns in our neighborhood back in Massachusetts! The chef knows how to prepare seafood, simply, without too much embellishment. The quality of the fish and the cooking shine through. Our Sole Meunier was as good as we have had in a lot fancier restaurants. Same could be said for the Profiteroles. There is a nice mix of locals and travelers, all being treated courteously. Prices are fair for the quality of the ingredients. The ambiance is casual elegance, the service unpretentious. We wouldn't hesitate to return.

The owner taught me how to open oysters with his special techniques. I bought 3 sets of oyster openers from him as souvenirs for my family. His oysters are very fresh indeed!

This was our second visit, last year and this - great to see that it hasnât changed. A small family restaurant serving great food at a reasonable price. You need to book as it is really popular. Weâll definitely be going back next year as well!
