We enjoyed eating at this restaurant close to the waterfront. The place was bustling on a Saturday evening, but we were able to get an inside table. Wine by the glass was pricey, although the serving was generous. I ordered flounder, which was really fresh and came with a heap of garlic potatoes and squash. Our server was great, however, as she cleared the table, she broke my husband's water glass. An unfortunate accident that she apologized profusely for.

Feeling peckish after morning birding Plum Island we saw the positive reviews of this place and decided to pop in for chowder and a lobster roll. There was indoor and outdoor seating with beautiful views. Ample parking and bathrooms. Food was extremely fresh and tasty we loved our freshly made lobster roll with chunks of lobster lightly seasoned and our chowder was thick creamy and tasty.

After a beautiful couple of hours on Crane Beach we arrived at the Boathouse Grill around 3:30pm, a Sunday afternoon. Not crowded in the main dining area so we were seated immediately. The bar area did look packed though, football Sunday. The menu is extensive, so much so that deciding on what you want to eat is a challenge, everything looked so appealing. Service was great and efficient. We started with the chowder special of the day which was corn and bacon. My husband ordered it, I did not, when it came I had a taste and it was delicious so I asked our waitress for a bowl. Others got the traditional clam chowder and a side salad. All very good. Be prepared for a ton of food during your main course. All of our dishes were heaping platefuls of food. The fried clam dinner was overflowing with clams, french fries, onion rings and coleslaw. It was nice not to have to order a side of onion rings or fries, having the combo was perfect. The clams were whole bellies and just to my liking, smaller bellies which I prefer. And the breading was not overly greasy. The lobster roll was very good, my friend said but she's had better. The Boathouse bouillabaisse was loaded with seafood, great presentation. The only thing left in the bowl was the broth and empty shells, a big hit. A very enjoyable early dinner out, come hungry!

Good food, courteous staff, fair prices. Full of locals which usually means consistent food quality. We always look for a restaurant with a lot of locals. We had chicken salad and tuna salad. Pretty normal fair. The freshness was noticeable. The chicken salad was homemade. The place was packed for lunch and it was past 2:00 oâclock. An Enjoyable quick meal.

Wow...didnât think there could be more uncomfortable seating in an eating establishment. We sat at the bar before dinner and had to turn sideways as there wasnât enough âlipâ to sit comfortably. It looks as though they tried to extend it by screwing a piece of metal on...but it was a feeble and unsuccessful attempt. The table seating wasnât much better and the persons in our party that sat on the isle were continually brushed by the hips and asses of the servers as they walked by.In terms of the service and fare....meh. Servings were very small and standard in taste. The meals came out slowly but the server came over 3 times to see if we needed additional drinks. When the food came out it was lukewarm...like they were trying to get us to order more drinks before we ate...we prefer to eat our meals sober thank you.The prices were very high and the value was extremely low. We left hungry and annoyed...at the uncomfortable seating, the pushing of drinks, the pedestrian food, and exorbitant prices. No fun AT ALL.

We arrived for Sunday Brunch on a beautiful morning to a gorgeous property and restaurant, but looks are deceiving. We were seated immediately to a nearly empty restaurant and greeted by our waitress whom stated it was her first day, which I believe. Here's the quick rundown: Waitress - Nice but definitely not well trained, repeatedly claimed the kitchen was "slammed."Service - Excruciatingly slow is an understatement. Plus, we had to ask for EVERYTHING more than once.Food- A joke for the price, and every order was wrong. Our table of four each ordered eggs over easy and they all came out fried. Three customers ordered potatoe hash and received home fries. Not to mention the kitchen must have been rationing the salsa verde.**We pointed out to the waitress that three of her customers ordered potatoe hash, not home fries. She said she would fix it with the kitchen. The waitress returned a short time later, perhaps her quickest return to our table, only to announce that we would be "upcharged" for the replacement. Ridiculous.Manager - This was all pointed out to the manager, who was indifferent to our experience. She also made it clear that the restaurant had only been open a month. Time - We were there for nearly two hours just to have a few drinks, coffee and breakfast. Value - Certainly not worth the $108 for four. In my opinion, this place needs to offer more training to the wait staff, improve the food preparation and hire effective management. Thanks for pointing out the effort and care that's gone into our atmosphere. The north of Boston area is such a beautiful place and we are trying to create a restaurant environment that's just as scenic and peaceful. It sounds like a lot of aspects of your first visit were not up to the standard we're aiming for in terms of food and service. We've been working on training our staff and equipping our managers to help when issues like this arise. We do hope you'll give us another chance. A 1-star review is hard to see but detailed reviews like this really do help us improve, and we'd love the chance to make things right.

Wonderful seafood (eat in or take out). Also amazing catering service!! We are closed for the season. Reopening mid March or by April 1st
Restaurant was recommended by an antique dealer in town. We had lunch and were delighted. Fried clams were pricy but were sweet and not chewy. Clam chowder was also filled with clams and was superior and superb. Staff was friendly and attentive. We will return!

Fried clams were first rate. Pub burger thick, delicious and cooked to perfection. Grilled chicken sandwich top notch. Interior is dated but in a charming way. Everything was a bit old fashioned which is to say utterly enjoyable. So pleased we CBR. Keep up the good work. A real antidote to todayâs plastic world.
