On the sea front at le Crotoy a restaurateur can't go wrong with the number of tourists drifting passed, especially with a fish market next door. The place was clean, the service polite and accomodating. The main dish of dos de cabillaud, recommended that day, was well cooked and tasty, the mussel starters were abundant but rather small in size - made one wonder what their harvesting did to mussel stocks, and needed a lot of work to eat. Would we go back? Perhaps. But there are plenty of other restaurants to try in le Crotoy.

Liz et Johann sont heureux de vous accueillir dans leur restaurant où une cuisine de saison vous sera servie face à la baie de Somme. Le restaurant est idéalement situé : face à la plage avec vue imprenable sur la baie et ses magnifiques couchers de solei
Beautiful food displaying real finesse and the view over the bay compliments everything too. The menu is rather difficult to navigate as there are only a few dishes to choose from but in various combinations, yet it's worth studying it carefully to be rewarded. The interior of the restaurant is very attractive so it's a good rendezvous out of season. I ate a delicious lieu jaune with local purple potatoes and samphire as a main course. There is a large choice of shellfish in various combinations. The service was acceptable but food tended to be 'plonked' down. I rarely make a comment like this but I do hope it will lead to an improvement as it's a great place really.

We enjoyed good food and service in this very clean and comfortable restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and helpful in explaining some of the dishes to us. We chose a mackerel dish and pate dish for starters and both were very good. Main courses consisted of moules frites and a lamb shank. Again, both dishes were very good. Plenty of bread as well. Wine was reasonably priced and served in various size pichets to suit thirst and pocket.Nice ambience about the place. Recommended.

We had dinner in the restaurant of the hotel (there are two places that someone can eat) and we did not regret it. For starters we had cold fish (marinated with herbs and lemon) which was delicious. For main course we had 2 different types , 1 filet with hollandaise sauce and 1 fried fish , both super delicious. The vegetables and all the siders were delicious as well. Service was polite and efficient and the atmosphere also nice. In general I am very happy with our dinner, the fish plates are some of the best I ever had and I will definitely miss this place. I would like to give congratulations to the chef.Tanks a lot for your comment. We try all the days to be perfect and it's a real pleasure for me to read your post. See you soon,Cordialement,M.GonsseaumeManager

Wasn't expecting too much from a hotel restaurant but what a surprise. We had the 4 course prix-fixe menu at â¬24.90. Started with an amuse bouche which was totally unexpected then had ballotine of duck (more like a terrine) but 3 large pieces (too much in actual fact) with pickled veg, followed by cod loin - again a generous portion - served with potatoes and veg. 3rd up was a selection of cheeses and last but not least was dessert. My husband had the crane brûlée and I had the nougat glacé. We shared a bottle of Macon Lugny and even had a cheeky glass of red each with the cheese course. All in all the bill was â¬85 incl service. We almost rolled out of the restaurant!! Superb food, service and value for money.

Having been thwarted by the Brasserie l'Esplanade a few doors down being closed we found ourselves in l'Hippocampe and what an unexpected delight it turned out to be. The plat du jour was faux fillet bearnaise and excellent value at â¬9.50. Service was polite and efficient but warmed up to nice and friendly as the meal went on. I suppose these restaurants see so many tourists passing through that hospitality isn't seen as being as important as it is in a local neighbourhood restaurant relying on repeat custom. However we left very pleasantly surprised at just how good the meal had been and encouraged by the smiles that eventually shone through. The favourable reviews on Trip Advisor are well justified and we will certainly return.
