Hog Island Oyster Co. Marshall offers three dining options on the shore of Tomales Bay, the bay where we raise our own oysters and shellfish. 1. Reserve a seat(s) at The Boat Oyster Bar and outdoor oyster bar with communal seating where we shuck and grill
We were on our drive down from our wine weekend and made our intentional detour to Hog Island because weâve endured the lines at the Ferry Building in SF and knew with this spot we could enjoy these delicious oysters right away. The hostess gave us a great table with a sweeping view of the bay... did I mention that all tables basically have sweeping views. We each ordered a cold drink and then came oysters! On ice and we even tried the grilled ones... A great place to go and wonât let you down!

After a long day of hiking we were very hungry. The person who served us helped us make good choices and the food came quickly. The tacos and veg burger and salads were very flavorful. Sampled a couple beers before ordering. Very, very happy with our choice to have dinner here. I imagine the daytime view is very nice.

Delectable oysters en-route to Point Reyes. The scenery is gorgeous and serene. The oysters were fresh and of high quality. My favorite version were the bbq flavor, which were out of this world. A favorite place for locals. Please stop here and enjoy a relaxing time eating oysters and taking in the natural beauty of northern California.

My girlfriend and I stopped by the Tomales Bay Oyster Co. on our way back from the Hog Island Oyster Co. on May 20th and had a really great experience. We picked up a dozen small oysters just as we had done at Hog Island. The gentlemen working at Tomales was super nice and showed us how to shuck the oysters (using a shucker is even better than a flathead screwdriver!) He let us sample a few, and even threw in a half dozen or so oysters for free as well as two limes. Since you can't enjoy them onsite (which is totally fine), we took them into Point Reyes Station and had a feast. They were absolutely delicious - salty and meaty and perfect. Here is my advice to anyone who is visiting the Point Reyes area and wants to try local oysters: avoid the high end, fancy, arty farty restaurants that charge a fortune and go straight to the source and get them fresh off the boat at Tomales Bay Oyster Co. Take them to the park and shuck them yourself. It's a much better experience, its cheaper, and the oysters are a million times better.

A modern roadside tavern offering the freshest of West Marin Fare and cocktail program. Due West has outdoor seating, a full bar and seasonal specials from Chef Justin Bruckhert.
On a day when the restaurant had only a few tables full, it took ages until greater and seated. Table behind me all were commenting on how expensive the dishes are. Yes itâs pricey but in line with others nearby restaurants in point Reyes and Inverness Station and Inverness. However, food quality was lacking. I asked for medium and got rare meat that was very chewy. Covered by limp arugula âsaladâ and accompanied by fries (hard to ruin fries - theyâre fine). The former restaurant that occupied the space was much better. Having tried Due West Iâll not be rushing to return until menu and quality improves.Dear GPToakI am disappointed to hear that your experience was less than standard. Since the rebranding, we truly have taken the time and energy to carefully evolve and enhance our menus with the freshest fare in West Marin so it is unfortunate to hear it did not match your prior experience. Please know that we take comments like this seriously and want to ensure that we continue to deliver at the standard to match our price point (which yes, is in line with Point Reyes and Inverness locales). We do hope to welcome you back to Due West in the future for another opportunity to gain back your loyalty. Please do not hesitate to reach out directly should you want to book a table in the future and I'll be sure you have a better experience.EricGeneral Manager

Saltwater is a neighborhood oyster bar and restaurant that is rooted in its respect for sustainably managed farmlands, shellfish producing water bottoms and folks that are engaged in the thoughtful gathering of food.
Service was good. Our servers were very nice and accommodating, however, the hostess with long curly hair parted in the middle was rather rude and unfriendly. When we checked in, she was not friendly at all. We ended up sitting by the bar, but once table opened up before our main dishes came, we asked our server to be seated by the table that accommodated our family of 5. She bluntly told us âItâs so difficult to moveâ. I was taken aback from her rude response. I asked why, she simply brushed me off which pissed me off. Our waiter heard the entire incident and she said âItâs not that difficult, will take care of you!â. Really??? The table was just in back of us. So nice of our waiter for accommodating us! Anyhow, food was good but the price are way too expensive (see food pix). Oysters were $3.25 each while 4 broiled oysters cost $19. Good fresh oysters. Their salad which was just tomato cherries and romaine lettuce with their special sauce costs $17 which was in small portion. We ended up spending $220 for five of us. Fish BLT and grilled mushroom sandwiches were very good. Skip the rest but donât forget the oysters.
