Researched this before we got to Montecatini .. the table setting, table lamps, the service were all second to none, the lady who served us had worked in Melbourne Australia & she was charming, we had 3 courses each & they were all perfection, the lady owner was so attentive & really cared that everything was right, we felt so special we wanted to go back, just ran out of time on our holiday, we will be back & this will be our first meal. Thank you so much for such a perfect. Evening.

Two weeks ago I visted Ristorante Forassiepi together with a family member. I did write a review, but based on communication with the upset chef I deleted it and will by this rewrite my comments on the visit.I have lived more than 60 years by the Noth Sea, so fish and other “seafood“ are well known. Due to different reasons I have cooked in the kitchen for more than 50 years but I do not call myself a chef, yet. The last 6 weeks, and two more to come, I have enjoyed learning more about the Italian kitchen so I am better prepared to invite neighbours, friend, family or other visitors that would like to dine with us in Montecarlo.I am also pleased to see I have catched up with 100.000 readers on my reviews on Tripadviser that I hope read my reviews as I read others. To find good or challenges with restaurants I like to vist when I am in a particular area.So back to Ristorante Forassiepi. Over the 17 years visiting Lucca and the area this was my third visit the Ristorante Forassiepi. Previous I have been reasonable pleased even it is 5 years since last time.I was very pleased, even we were prepared to come back. The person who took my reservation noted wrong day. Just the way I want it. See a table empty for 3 hours instead of have other people dine in between is waste. We wanted to check out their menu and taste the food. So two hours for us should be more than enough, normally. I poped into the chef just briefly before we were seated. The restaurant is obvius a place for fine dining. The clients this evening also indicated this. The menu is interesting and we appreciated the introduction soup, nice presentation and very good tast. For starter I had choose Octopus. I very often do that when I see it because I just love it. And this was prefect cooked, just delicious. Primi was our first disappointment. Both of us had risotto and it was not cooked enough. The plating was not as you expect a first class restaurant and the tast from what should be a marinated salmon disappear. I had picked Scampi (Nephrops norvegicus). Taste ok, noted is that you can choose from fruit or vegetables along with the scampi. I had fruit, so dolce along with my second and it lifted the dish completeness. However, again I was very disappointed with the presentation. I eat a lot with my eyes so I have different expectations depend on what kind of restaurants I visit.Second, disappointment of the day was when my family member ordered Lobster. As mentioned, lived by the sea expectation of a European Lobster when Lobster is put on the menu is there, so if any would like lobster at Ristorante Forassiepi, ask what kind of lobster are on the menu this day. Looking at their video on Facebook lobster is European Lobster present, but that was not what was given us. In general service is good. Based on the high priced menu it is easy to see they spend a part of that with having staff available, both in the kitchen and the front. Chef Antonio Pirozzi, has his 35 years pluss in business, but as years goes it is not as easy to watch all and keep a hand on everything. That we did not turn any dish back to the kitchen, sorry about that, just not something we do. I rather tell the story what kind of experience I have and leave it with that. This time was a “cosi..cosi” experience, hope to visit again and that it will be better. White wine from Enzo Carmangiani was good and was a good match to our dishes.

This restaurant caters mainly for business dinners and couples. However, families are welcome and they make pasta al pomodoro on request for them. We had antipasti and pasta, and were offered pappa al pomodoro as a starter. The anti pasti were refined dishes, like a tarte and pate. The pasta was very good, not your standard ragu. The menu is equally devided between seafood and meat. Prices are somewhat higher than at a trattoria, but the quality and finesse of the dishes is also better than most. Strangely, we weren't offered a wine list, we could just pick red or white (or sparkling, very popular amongst the couples). We drank a reasonable red wine.

We stopped here for a long, pleasant Sunday lunch during a visit to the parco di pinocchio (which is opposite the restaurant). The service was good - the staff seemed rushed but always helpful. The food was good: nothing amazing, just good Italian food at it's best. Unpretentious, honest food at a reasonable price. The set menu (20 Euros, antipasti, primi, secondi, water, wine) is really good value. The children's menu is, too (10 Euros, primi, secondi & drink). The Tuscan antipasti was a delicious start to the meal. Then we had ravioli (good, really nice tomato sauce), cotoletta alla milanese & chips (everything I hoped it would be). Good house wine by the carafe, what more can you ask for?Our boys had pasta in bianco (which they love), but the other option of tomato pasta should be similarly young-crowd pleasing. They had plenty of high chairs when we visited, even with a couple of large Italian families taking their share of them.Overall: good food, good value.

I enjoyed a very nice dinner with my family last week, the food was fresh and excellent, the choise was among lost of traditional dishes and fish dishes. We booked in advance, we had a very fine table reserved, the waiters full of thoughts and very helpfull. Last but not least the price for the quality of the dinne simply excellent. I highly recommand this restaurant.

This is a very cozy restaurant next to the famous gardens furnished with Tuscan taste. We were there for dinner and the service was amazing. We were seated at a table next to a window overlooking the garden. Food - we had the menu di degustazione mare - was above average and was to our taste. As we went there after Easter we had a quiet and joyful evening. Recommended!

We were hungry late at night, so we went to the village to find a pizza place. We walked in to Pizzeria Pucci and were greeted by a friendly waitress. She was very accommodating, ordering us a pizza and boxing it up. I was sorry we didn't bring the whole family down so we could eat in the restaurant. The décor was inciting and the people were so nice and welcoming. And we liked the pizza.

From the moment we were welcomed in (at 9:30 p.m.) we felt right at home. Although the ambiance may be a little lacking, it fits perfectly with the home-style atmosphere. AND, while it may lack in linen cloths and napkins, the food and service makes up 10 times!Massimo and his staff made this our favorite restaurant in the region! I am a chef and this was the best lamb dish I have ever eaten...ANYWHERE! The mushroom ravioli, divine! The Panna Cotta...sublime! The food, service and wine were absolutely excellent! How I wish we could have eaten here every night. Thank you Guy Fieri and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. This recommendation was spot on! Grazie Massimo and familia! Ritornero!!!! I will return and send my friends!
