Our Restaurant is small and welcoming,is located on the main steps that lead to the historical center of Castiglione Del Lago with a lake view.We offer you ,in a family atmospher,a tipical cuisine of Umbria and Tuscany, very simple, homemade,as made from ou
We called at this Osteria for Pranzo just after we had arrived in C d L as it was close to where we were staying. First impressions were of a traditional small family owned restaurant with lots of pictures of the local area around the lake stretching back to the early 20th century. What followed was a meal where the ingredients spoke for themselves and were prepared simply and sympathetically by someone who obviously loves food. (like me) Roberto introduced himself at the end of the meal after I had commented on how good it was to his wife who serves up the food. We had quite a long chat about it although as our Italian is not that advanced we could not avoid the coccasional consult with Google translate. He explained about the rare breed pig (Cinta Sinese) he sources from the region of Siena inTuscany which has now been given DOP status. Forget bland, white (often dry) meat we have become used to when eating pork. This is completely different and delicious and a cross between Cingiale (Wild Boar ) and domestic pig. The animals are reared in the semi-wild and forage for sweet and bitter acorns, tubers and tuffles. The Starter platter of Prosciutto, Salami, Capo Collo all from this breed is outstanding and if served up by top London restaurants would probably cost a fortune We live in neighbouring Marche where salumi is also good but the rare breed of pork used here and the subtle use of fennel in Tuscan Salumi elevated it to something really special. The pork menu alone should make this place a must visit. Roberto also cooks lake fish, such as perch, persico and carp (the latter not really my cup of tea but , nevertheless well prepared and roasted with pork 'lardo' and fennel for those that DO like it) which we tried on or 2nd visit just before we returned home after our 4 day break.. I was surprised how quiet Trasimeno was (mid July) and even more surprised how quiet this restaurant was at lunchtime on a Friday. Given all of the above, the prices were modest and, this Osteria deserves a wider and bigger audience than it appears to have at the moment based on our two visits particularly with the produce on offer. Will certainly be back on our next visit. Cannot wait!Grazieeeee un saluto grande da Agnese,Roberto

Visited a number of times during a 2 week stay and had great food each time. Fab antipasti, great selection of pastas, and another mention for the super turbot. Luca and his team were charming each time, very accommodating with a large party lunch booking, and genuinely engaging with us - especially the kids. Mostly Italian dinners too - always a good sign. Cannot recommend strongly enough.

Great italian restaurant specialized in cooking fish and finest Tuscan cuisine . Very refined location. The staff Will make yourself at home
A real hidden gem. Simply outstanding!!! We loved it! It's tucked away in Chiusi, Tuscany but well worth finding. It felt like sitting by in a high-end restaurant in Florence or Rome. The owner and staff are extremely friendly and efficient. Don't use the menu, let them lay the meal out and match the wines for you. You will be very pleased.

Consigliato.

We were recommended this restaurant by a good friend who told this was the best seafood in the area. We arrived on a Wednesday evening to find an empty restaurant and to our surprise when we opened the menus there was only meat dishes. We thought we must be in the wrong place and contemplated leaving, which would have been a big mistake! We quickly changed gear from expecting fish to selecting from traditional Umbrian meat dishes. Everything we chose was excellent, ragu served on perfectly cooked pici for primi and secondi of succulent osso buco for my wife and lamb cutlets for myself. Service was very attentive by a very helpful young waitress who spoke perfect English. She went on to explain that fish was only served on Friday, Saturday and Monday ...... cue a second visit that Friday. This time we booked a table, which was fortunate as the restaurant was full. We were recognised from the previous visit and received a very friendly greeting. Now the thinking behind the different menus for different days becomes clear .... only the freshest seafood is served. Carpaccio of tuna; perfection! Gratinated scallops; delightful! Seabass; brimming with flavour! Sole; delicate! The atmosphere on this night was cheerful, with a hum of conversation and clearly a favorite of the locals, Everyone seemed to be eating an endless stream of different fish dishes many not on the menu, oh to be in the know!By now we were hooked (so to speak) and came back the following Friday for more sea-fresh fish. I had a swordfish steak (recommended by the waiter and not on the menu) to die for.For us this was the find of the holiday. We will be back when we are next in the area and be happy to work from either menu. Just note what day of the week it is!

Went there 3 times. Always very busy and staff rushing around. Food is good but due to staff rushing around seemed less attentive and they were just going through the motions of feeding people. The coperti or cover charge which I think pays for the bread of which most was sent back but then didn't know to leave a tip or not. A suggestion would be get rid of it unless its something the staff get and let the customers tip like they normally would. Food is very good and the meat all flame grilled which is great. Would have been 5 stars if service was slightly more on point instead of chaos.

We came here last year after living in and visiting Paciano for years. We come here on off nights and when in the mood for somethiing different. (GREAT SEAFOOD). We have come to love their Branzino, Swordfish and most of all their clams and spaghetti. The gnocchi and Norcia meat is great too. We also love the service and the desserts (Tiramisu)...Try it if you have a night free.
