After eating an outstanding meal at Charlotte Hotel the previous night, we expected great things out of Bizzottos as well. We were severely disappointed. The menu featured many dishes with simple sauces we could have made ourselves (and have). But a caprese appetizer salad that featured burrata cheese instead of mozzarella and drizzled black truffle oil did sound intriguing. And maybe it would have worked, in a kitchen that tried harderâ¦? Had more skillâ¦? The burrata had been deep fried in the same crumbs used on the crabcake (more on that later) and then CHILLED. What exactly was the point? The black truffle oil had been replaced with the same tired sweet balsamic syrup that was also used on the risotto (more on that, later, too). The tomatoes were mediocre. A very disappointing (and at $10, expensive) start. The crabcake dinner (2 for $28) was the worst crabcake weâve ever had on the Eastern Shore. (Even the gas station diner Sting Rayâs down near Cape Charles was better). It reminded us of the soulless packaged Mrs. Paulâs crabcake dinners in the supermarket freezer section when we were kids. There was no way to tell the crab from the filler, there was no point to the red pepper in the mix, it was over-salted, and the hard crumb shell was something out of the 1960s. It was little consolation that the steamed spinach and mashed potatoes that came with it tasted fresh and was worth eating. Onto the shrimp risotto. This entrée featured some ordinary tasting shrimp and decent risotto. The shrimp was squirted with that same sweet balsamic syrup that did nothing to enhance its flavor. For $25 we expect something a lot more inspired. We couldnât imagine that dessert would be any better (and did not order), but found it fascinating that on a Monday that they only had a few desserts leftâ¦that were the same as ones mentioned at Charlotte Hotel (which was closed on Mondays). Is Bizzottos picking up their leftovers? Regardless, we wonât be back.
Fun Fine Fusion restaurant using top quality local ingredients for a creative and changing menu incorporating styles and flavors from all over the globe. 4 charming rooms to rent for out of town guests or locals wanting a get away.
Fine dining on Virginia's Eastern Shore has been fairly spotty with most places near route 13 serving fairly standard fried seafood. Until now, the one exception has been Onancock's Bizotto's. Now, there is another, Maurice, and what a wonderful addition. Our meal at Maurice was a treat for the eyes, nose and tastebuds. We started with sushi that was a work of art and a tuna tartar that was also beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We followed with the shrimp cake and the local catch. Both were large portions and just lip smacking. We washed it down with a perfect Spanish white wine. Like who knew that the beautifully quaint town of Onancock could also attract such a great restaurant.

Visited on July 4th around 1:30pm. Try werenât that busy and we were quickly seated. Placed our order for drinks and entrees. Drinks arrived, then we waited and waited and waited!! Almost 30 minutes later our lunch arrived. Nothing fancy nor time consuming to prepare. My wife had a salad topped with crabcake and I had steamed clams. Oysters on 1/2 shell and 1/2 lb of steamed shrimp. The oysters must have sat for at least 20 minutes because the ice they sat on was almost completely melted and invaded the shells diluting that salty oyster liquor. The clams were a bit cool with no broth in the bowl. The shrimp were over cooked ( all you need is 3 min!!). The salad was fine (obviously, no cooking/prep) and the crab cake was average. Not worth the money..Hello, thank you for leaving us this feedback, it is very important that we hear from our guests about their experiences, good or bad.
