First time back this year, have had take always but not in the restaurant. Fish was good as was the batter, chips were good and just the right amount. The restaurant was heaving as we forgot it was still half term and there were plenty of families. Meal was good but not excellent.

Looked for a recommended seafood restaurant with an interesting menu . We booked as we knew it was very popular . We shared between us a huge seafood platter plus additional dishes. Excellent food and service within an Edwardian hotel . We enjoyed it so much we booked in for Saturday evening for non seafood dishes and again the food was excellentThank you for your comments. I am delighted you enjoyed your visits to Bolton's Bistro

My wife and I are locals and weâve been to hot rocks twice, and both times weâve had nothing but absolute perfection. The crab, lobster and friends sharing platter is amazing and incredible value for money. Thereâs nothing better than good seafood and Hot Rocks delivers. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and delicious food. Perfect for an intimate date night or a casual dinner with the family. 10/10 would recommend!

Hungry golfers fancied a bit of fish and chilled wine, thought this would be ok. On arrival almost changed our minds as it was a bit basic, the menu looked tatty and tired, but when the food arrived we were in for a treat. Various food bites that looked ordinary in the script turned up a treat. The main course of roast hake with cauliflower bhaji was a revelation. Very well done the chef. A good chilled Pinot Rosè and French Sauvignon Blanc Drank perfectly. The service light and fun. For seasoned foodies we left very happy. Give it a go.

Situated in the village of Roughton just a few miles from Cromer on the main road from Norwich on the central crossroads and opposite the garage and grocers this fish and chip shop with eat in restaurant and large outside parking area and tarmac forecourt well supplied with tables for takeaway diners to sit in the sun and enjoy their food looks perfect. We went on a rather overcast Sunday lunch time very warm but threatening rain so we passed on the alfresco dining and decided to eat in the restaurant. For the elderly or less mobile there are steps or a steep climb up to the entrance with no designated disabled parking near to the door and a step into the shop and restaurant. Once inside the restaurant is bright air conditioned and well presented with a range of table sizes from two to eight all modern matching tables and chairs with a large picture window. We were greeted by a very pleasant member of staff well turned out who was clearing down tables now empty of diners surprisingly at around the popular time of 1 oâclock. We picked a corner table at the window to the right of the entrance door. Although a table for three there was only one menu so I helped myself to one from the next table and we looked through it and the specials board showing sweets of the day. The menu was well presented a wide range of fish including skate most in two sizes sausages burgers and pies were available and a childrenâs menu again with ample choice. A wide range of hot and cold drinks and deserts completed a comprehensive offering including extras such as onion rings curry sauce and gravy. Tidying finished the waitress came to take our order all meals include chips and mushy peas or baked beans. There was no salad on offer so my wife opted for medium haddock specifying well done no chips or peas or beans I wanted the large cod but on checking found out it came without what I consider the best part the skin so a swift change to large plaice although subsequently a mistake as I did not specify it came with white not the black skin I enjoy more and it was oily and on seeing the medium haddock my wife had chosen I think the large haddock with skin would have been the best choice. Now we move to the second area the first being the break with tradition of supplying cod with no skin the second being frying in some kind of oil not the traditional beef fat. We were not offered a choice fried in oil is how it came. Ericâs at Thornham who fry in the traditional beef fat offer vegetable oil as an alternative. I have learned something today that as more establishments use something other than beef fat to fry in there is a need for me to check before ordering. I believe a need for the frying medium used to be clearly stated on the menu and a choice to be offered vegetable oil for vegetarians or those that want it and beef fat for traditionalists like myself. In all other respects our meals were as ordered my wifeâs haddock was well done my plaice for a large could have been a little thicker but was well cooked and the new potato chips were excellent. My wife would not recommend the pot of coffee for one it was very strong had probably rested in a pot on a hot ring for too long and was served with milk while a choice of cream would have improved it. We did not have a desert so I can not comment although I will say a wide choice at reasonable prices is available so a plus I would say. We checked the bill and from my wifeâs meal a pound had been deducted for not having chips or the beans or peas included in the price a gesture but not representative of the cost of a portion of chips or peas if bought separately. Overall though not a badly priced meal at less than £22 for lunch including drinks. I would be interested in the views of others that visit this establishment and others like it as good quality traditional fish and chips gets harder to find please give a thumbs up if you agree or ignore an old man if you donât.

Locally owned and managed. Located in the North Norfolk coastal town of Cromer. We source local produce where available and present the finished dishes for reasonable prices.
Another independent breakfast place on my list. Excellent place with an interesting menu. First visit I had Eggs Benidict which compared to the one I had in a new Slug and Lettuce in Nottingham was 100 times better. My friends all agreed we would come again on The Sunday. Everybody tried different things on the menu. I imagine it's pretty cool in the evening as they have a vintage jukebox

Food was cooked fresh. A little greasy and over done but still enjoyable. The only vegetarian option was a burger sausages would be better

The fish and chips from here are the best ever. Always freshly cooked hot and perfect. Not like the chip shops which have too much batter and air, the batter from here is just right and always good to eat. Well done.

We chose to have fish and chips Bank Holiday Saturday. We went on the basis of reviews and whilst there was a short wait we were not disappointed. The chips were good and the fish was wonderful!!! Absolutely delicious. We ate on the sea front and was wonderful. There is another fish and chip shop in Mundesley , which is closer to the front but the walk to the village centre is well worth it. As Arnie would say "I'll be back".
